No way! that bass was way to light to be Spanish Cedar! I really didn't look at the back, as soon as I picked it up it was so light I assumed it was Ash. I guess that is why I fell in love with the bass.
Had a good time yesterday at the Raleigh GTG. I got a chance to play this beauty and the tone was surprising! I am not much of an ash person but the woods and electronics came together on this bass and except for it only weighing around 8 pounds I forgot it was ash. It has a sweet jazz tone vibe, this bass is one of the most articulate basses I have played, every note was crystal clear. The action was low and made chord playing so easy and talking about chords, you could hear every nuance of a tri-chord. Spank me, if my left wrist was able to handle playing six strings again, this would be the bass for me.
As always, Roscoe are much more beautiful in person... Unfortunately that can't be said for me.You can see better pictures of the bass here at Rocket Music's Website.

I will say Mike the owner let me hold/play (acoustically , Im bashful) everything he had. MTD, Roscoe, Zon (important), Marleux.
I would worry if the owner of an instrument store wouldn't let a potential customer try whatever they wanted...
