Roscoe Club

Had a good time yesterday at the Raleigh GTG. I got a chance to play this beauty and the tone was surprising! I am not much of an ash person but the woods and electronics came together on this bass and except for it only weighing around 8 pounds I forgot it was ash. It has a sweet jazz tone vibe, this bass is one of the most articulate basses I have played, every note was crystal clear. The action was low and made chord playing so easy and talking about chords, you could hear every nuance of a tri-chord. Spank me, if my left wrist was able to handle playing six strings again, this would be the bass for me.

As always, Roscoe are much more beautiful in person... Unfortunately that can't be said for me. :D You can see better pictures of the bass here at Rocket Music's Website.

....Clint, that's a Spanish cedar body...

;)

No way! that bass was way to light to be Spanish Cedar! I really didn't look at the back, as soon as I picked it up it was so light I assumed it was Ash. I guess that is why I fell in love with the bass, the tone is extraordinary on this bass.

I just went to the Rocket Music website as I had to double check the body wood. Wow, that has to be the lightest Spanish Cedar bass I have ever picked up. Is this a chambered bass?

Yea Im the same way..gets a little overwhelming and saturated when a ton of people are around. I will say Mike the owner let me hold/play (acoustically , Im bashful) everything he had. MTD, Roscoe, Zon (important), Marleux. That Zon had the lowest setup I can remember in a long time..very impressive. MTD was interesting but I feel Roscoe seemed to own it in the quality dept.

I have Roscoe basses with Cedar, Ash and Mahogany bodies. The one I like the best is the one that is in my hands at the time!

Seriously, they all sound terrific. My only niggle is the SKB 3006 that was built for Jon Packard with a Mahogany body weighs 11 pounds, 3 ounces but the tone is just wonderful. I eat my Wheaties on the day that I play that bass!
