I've been quite surprised/confused about having my LG3000 up for sale, for quite some time now. It's honestly the nicest fretted 4 string I've ever played and the price is more than reasonable. But not really any bites. It has been sitting in my office for like 6 months while I focused on fretless.
Took it home last night and put new strings on and just might keep it. Frets feel weird. But I know if I ever go for a jam sometime, I'll prob want the ease of frets. I just don't like having more than I reeeally need.
As you say, maybe not enough strings for some. 3005s tend to move quick.
Yeah, it’s a great bass. Best “jazz” bass I’ve played. If it doesn’t sell, I guess I’ll just use it as a backup or maybe a set if I don’t need a B string for it. It’s a beautiful bass, just isn’t NECESSARY for me right now, but I can keep it, too, I guess.
Keith said it’s something I could get at Lowe’s. He wasn’t sure of the brand as they haven’t done it for a while. $400 to refinish the body glossy.
It’s tempting, and $400 doesn’t seem bad as you need to take the bass apart, lacquer it and put it back together. Then there’s $200 worth of shipping there and back. So $600 for a shiny bass. Or do I do my best to find a good oil/wax whatever to keep it as nice as I can?

For me, the $600 (assuming it won't hurt you) seems like an easy choice, as the oil/wax maintenance will cost more time to keep it new looking, compared to gloss, that requires a quick wipe down.
Looks like Lowe’s has the Howard Feed n Wax so I’m going to give that a try. I kind of like the “natural” finish (gloss is nice but everyone has that) so I’ll see what I can do for now.
I could swing it, and I think my top would look amazing glossed, but I’m a little torn. You don’t see the natural finish very often and there is something g to be said about it. Not sure why I’ll do.

Roscoes are not finished in oil or wax. Using either will not do any good for the Roscoe "oil" finish.
That’s what’s been suggested. In an email Keith said “The coating for this bass is a rub on gel coat. You can find a version at Lowes or Home Depot. Rub on rub off”.
