It's been a year and a month, but my four-string is finally finished! Really looking forward to getting this bass in my hands. Keith said that he was shipping it out today, but I asked for him to hang onto it over Christmas. Traveling from Thursday - Monday, don't want to miss my shipment. I would have to think that you are up next Ed, at least I hope so.

That’s easily the best looking enhanced grain piece of ash that I’ve seen on a bass!

I've had LG's with both the slanted PUs and the straight ones. I much prefer the slanted. The slant follows my playing angle perfectly. I love my SKB's but if I had a do-over, I would have nothing but LG's.

I love the look of the LG. Classic Roscoe in my book. I like my LG3000. It's 34" scale. I didn't like the LG or SKB in a 35" scale 5 model. I felt like I was always reaching for first fret. I love my Century 5. The top strap button over the 12th fret (14th for the LG/SKB) makes all the difference for me. I know there are people who will say it's all in my head, but I respectfully disagree. I suppose I could get used to the feel of the LG to have the look, but why when the Century hangs perfectly and looks fantastic.

For mine the LG is the best body shape in bassdom. Lusted after it for years before pulling the trigger on an LG3000. Ultimately found out that the shape is not the best for seated playing - even 34" felt a reach to the first fret when sitting down - and the small body doesn't sit as solidly as other shapes. And I like to sit down in a more classical position. Ended up selling it.

That being said I still can't get over the attraction of an LG, and now Keith is doing 33" on the regular another LG is definitely on the GAS list.

I agree on the LG body. I also believe that the Roscoe headstock is near perfection. And yeah, the LG3000 does feel a tiny bit stretched when seated. But standing I think it's great. Looks awesome as well.

And I know for a fact that you can’t reach the first fret on your Century 5 right now. Matter of fact you can’t reach any of the frets sitting or standing!

I also talked to Keith today and your Century body fell off the table and part of the upper horn broke off. He said not to worry though. He reshaped it and refinished it. You now have the first Century with a LG length upper horn. Looks great though!

Otherwise I'd be seriously tempted to buy it, and mod it J/H/J, like a Stu Hamm bass.

Idk. I do like the single coils Aguilars in it but I have nothing to compare them too. Except the him canceling Sadowsky that I traded for this. I like this better. I always run them both full on so no hum to worry about.

Yeah. It’s at 13 or right between or whatever. Yep, that’s why they make 3 bodies. It’s been so long since I’ve strapped mine on I guess I’ve forgotten.

I bought a USA Spector 6 bolt on off EBay. It was a fine bass but I could barely reach the low notes on that bass. A guy put his fretless Roscoe Century 6 for sale. He wanted a bass for slap so I offered the Spector in trade and he accepted. I still have the Century 6 fl and will play it Wednesday night. It was the Roscoe that got me hooked.

I also owned a Bongo 6 for a while and it was one of the best sounding basses I have owned. Yeah, they look strange but those electronics are killer…..but the neck was too wide at the nut. It was slow for me to play because of the width at the nut. Roscoe 6’s are great at the nut for me but are just a bit wider at the bridge than I prefer. 17.5 mm at the bridge is perfect for me.

However, the Roscoe basses sound so good that I just practice a bit more and do fine with the 18.3mm spacing.

Wednesday night I will play the Century 6 fl and my SKB 6. You will likely detect some smiles coming from Texas that night.

Ok! Seriously New to me Roscoe. This thing is beautiful! Plays great. Sounds great! Got a couple of jobs this weekend.

How do you compare it to your MTD?

Top horn length is a huge priority for me, most of which is because I'm very short. I started noticing this when I bought a Rob Allen MB2 35" scale 5 string, which somehow had the same first position reach as a 32" scale Fender Urge. The MB2 has great top horn and saddle placement.

Shortening the top horn might seem like it's ideal for smaller people, but it just adds to the reach.

I don’t know about the 51 Split-J, but can highly recommend the BigRigs.

I have a Sadowsky P-bass with BigRig bridge pickup and a G&L Kiloton with an added BigRig neck pickup. Wired series, the BigRig has warmth and harmonic complexity with a bit of edge to it. I’ve been through a number of pickups and really like what the BigRig has added to both basses. If I were to order another Roscoe and wanted something different than the Roscoe Barts, the BigRigs would be high on my list.

First night a little disappointing. Played well and sounded good, but the battery crapped out. Second night, after a battery replacement, the bass just plays and sounds great! This thing is really just a well made and beautiful guitar. I've been very fortunate to have played some really well crafted basses, and this Roscoe is every bit as good as anything I have ever played.

How do you compare it to your MTD?

Two sweet basses. The MTD has a flatter neck profile and a hifi kind of sound. The Roscoe has a rounder feeling neck and, while still hifi sounding, very woody response. Two really well crafted instruments! If I was forced to choose between the two, I don't know that I could, although I am very enamored with the Roscoe. I had played a couple of Roscoes in the past, but never owned one. I am very pleased with myself for buying this bass! Great in every way! And the talk of the town. It is stunningly beautiful!
