22 months ?!?! That’s not encouraging. Sorry to hear yours is taking that long. Is there anything unusual about your build, like special pickups or preamp? Aside from the finish which is a little outside the box, my build is all standard electronics and hardware.[/QUOTE
I ordered a bass when I had some extra cash come in and he sent me a message that it was looking good etc etc. Then I didn't hear anything for a year. I figured things got busy, the Pandemic was going on etc. I emailed a few times and didn't get an answer (we always emailed and when I wanted to place an order I got an immediate response).
He finally got back to me and said a few weeks so I made a 2nd payment towards the cost so when it was ready I wouldn't have a huge payment. After that I didn't hear back for almost another year and was getting really frustrated. Once again, Keith said a few weeks but it wasn't until a few months later that he finally said it's ready and he was working on the intonation. I made the final payment and about a week or so later he finally shipped it.
The PJ is great and I really like it but the total process was about 3 years and the uncertainty of whether he was going to ship it did make me mad. There were a few in this group that made snide comments as if it was my fault, which I really found annoying, one of the group members sent me a private message saying that they didn't like those comments either.
So yes, it's a great bass, my third Roscoe but the process did leave a lot to be desired. To answer your comment to the other poster, my bass was not a complicated build, a passive PJ but I did upgraded finish.
interesting Fritz.
I’ve seen and owned many Roscoes and never recall seeing that wording on a headstock. And that’s a bit of an odd SN too. What is that first digit?
I just took delivery of a new Roscoe and it was the same on the back of the headstock
Wow, that's the longest build time I've heard of at Roscoe. Your frustration and apprehension during the extended waiting period is completely warranted and understood. That you persisted in patience and grace, embracing and enjoying the resulting build is a testimony to you being a treasured friend, ally, and customer of Roscoe guitars. Thank you, @sunnycal !I ordered a bass when I had some extra cash. . the total process was about 3 years. . it's a great bass, my third Roscoe but the process did leave a lot to be desired. .
Lots of folks like THG knobs ..never used em but like what I’ve seenCan anyone tell were to get Wood Knobs? I have a LG5 with Aguilar OP3, and I am trying to shave some weight and I want to replace the metal knobs to either aluminum or wood knobs.
+1Yeah. Roger at THG does a great job finding wood that matches your top and/or finger board. I’ve had 4-5 sets of knobs made as well as wood covers to replace the plastic rear access covers.
Always very pleased.
My guess is that Roscoe Guitars has longer build times for many reasons. Two common reasons are parts constraints and labor shortages. These have been at play for just about every luthier and manufacturer. Extended build times seem to be a new normal for many custom builders post Covid. It's not just Roscoe. It's also MTD, Sadowsky USA, and Sadowsky Germany (Warwick). Ibanez has also had supply chain issues, with their basses back ordered 9-mos to a year, previously unheard of before Covid.
Meanwhile, I have been thinking about a new Roscoe build for a long time. Finances haven't been right to move forward. Soon though, very soon. . Sound familiar?
Yes likewise I have to agree. Keith has always been an outstanding and upright guy and has shown me the upmost integrity. My guess is they are trying to upright the situations to get everyone current. This happens in business but open and honest communication goes a long way. It's hard to hear the issues. I bought/built my basses in the before times. Keith is so awesome. The basses are so awesome. I hope it can get figured out.
