Scored a sweet deal (less than 2k) on an SKB 5. Should be able to get it next week. Super excited. Pics coming soon. It''s be my second SKB.
was browsing youtube today and saw a video taken on 2/4/24 (supposedly) where Keith explains his current builds and shows around his workshop to the youtuber.
Thought those who are on this thread waiting for a response from Keith would like to know. Seems like Keith is doing okay and walking around.

So there may be some news about my fretless quest soon.
So I think it's safe to say @steelin4u contacted me and indicated he was reluctantly ready to part with one of his, formerly my, Century 5 fretless basses. I said I'd be happy to have one back. Only problem was he wasn't sure which one. Each had pluses and minuses of course, but either is an amazing bass.
I told him that after he decides which one he wants to keep, to put the other in a box and send it my way - but don't tell me which one. This has to be one of the more interesting transactions on TB, no?
Anyway, it should be a fun week of tracking and waiting. And I know I'll love either bass.

Interesting for sure, and, old-school Roscoe sale type It used to be you if ordered a Roscoe, Keith spec'd the entire bass, including woods and finish color. If a customer ordered an LG, Keith chose the remaining options, with a full surprise LG for the customer at delivery time.
Donovan at Fretspot has recently ordered basses exactly according to this method, and Keith delivered stunning basses. Enjoy your surprise, @SteveC . Both of those basses are great.

It was hard to decide which one to part with. I know I'm parting ways with an awesome instrument and even now I'm second-guessing myself with which one I chose to sell. I still have time to switch what is in the case...I think I'm becoming part-Steve! I kid.
I was blessed to have the opportunity to own both of these wonderful fretless basses. Tomorrow, I'll have but one. This is a cool transaction of Roscoe-size proportions and surprises!

Don't worry. With this I am done. I think I can say that now as I'm older and wiser and have 2 HS/College age kids.Now please keep it this time Steve!
Seriously, with my Century 5's (fretted and fretless) I have all I'll ever need for any gig I'll do in the foreseeable future. Add my Roscoe Classic P (TI flats) and even my G&L JB2 (nickel rounds) with the new custom pickups and I have a lot of ground covered.
Anything else is just normal nostalgia or curiosity. "That's like my first Ric" or "a multi-scale would be fun to try" or whatever. I can ease that G.A.S. pretty easily these days.
The only thing I still "struggle" with is my board/DI signal. Currently an HX Stomp is it. I get my bass and bass synth tones form it. It sounds great. No one complains. I still debate sometimes going back to an analog chain for my bass and using my Yamaha MODX6 for my synth sounds. The synth would still be digital (obviously) but that doesn't matter as much Although a Moog Sub 25 or 37 would be KILLER for bass synth. The Yamaha is easier as it sounds really good and has a screen where I can put my presets and name them. Kind of like the Stomp. That's the perk of digital.

Looks and sounds great. I just think there isn't a better looking bass than a Roscoe Century 5.

I'm guessing that you'll receive the one that Fritz had converted at Roscoe from JJ pickups to SB pickups.
That is my initial guess as well.
But, Adam said this:

Apparently, news crews are lining up outside @SteveC 's house as we speak, in hopes of an interview, or at least a glimpse of him, continuing coverage now until the return and unveiling of the glorious mystery bass.

It's hard to believe that after all the fretless bass counseling and debate (that we've all participated in with Steve) that a mystery Roscoe fretless is actually being delivered!
Regardless of which one arrives, it's a Roscoe and you'll love it. JJ or SB's are just varied flavors of great fretless tone.
We definitely need a picture of you opening the case.
I'll see if I can get my son to capture the event. He'll be just as interested as he grabs my Classic P all the time.
