We’ll surprise, surprise!
I was reminded this weekend of the fact that we do indeed have one of a kind handmade Roscoes. My custom purpleheart rear access covers didn’t fit. I could of scribed them to fit but only a couple of the mounting screws lined up.
In the old days I sent the plastic covers to Roger and made wooden covers based on the originals. Lately though, since Keith started doing them and the access holes via CNC, THG Knobs was able to standardize the covers. Oddly the last two sets were for the same model year as my current bass but the cutout and mounting holes were different. Oh well, off go the original covers to THG Knobs in California.
Just thought I’d mention it if any of you Roscoeheads got the desire to get some made.

I can totally remember those days. I never saw pics of the tops (or anything) on the first two basses Keith made for me until the bass arrived. When I ordered my first Roscoe fretless (2002) I asked Keith what kind of nice burl tops he had and he said that he had just gotten some nice pieces of box elder burl. I had never heard of it but he recommended it so I went with it. I remember searching for pics of box elder burl so I could get an idea of how it might look and all I could find were custom made pens, but at least I got an idea of how it might look.
Now days people expect to see pictures at every stage. The build took about 6 months and the last 3-4 months were in 2 week increments. That of course was where the “2 more weeks” phrase came from. It actually added to the excitement of the build (not knowing how it would look and when you would actually get it). And when that fretless actually arrived at the house I didn’t even know it had been shipped! :D

I like to think that. I haven’t seen one just like any of mine. I think my Classic P was one of the first to roll off the line. My Century 5 has a pretty unique top. All the necks are slightly different. Whatever fretless I have coming is also pretty unique if not one of a kind. Someone can try to poo-poo me but I’m sticking to it. :hyper::bassist:

That a great looking LG! My first one was a 4 string LG too. We really need to see a picture of whatever that gold (bass?) is next to the Roscoe though.

I mainly play 4 string these days. Harder to find boutique stuff in 4 string. I did just pick up a Warrior 5 string to mess with.
Not to derail the thread, but the gold bass is an early Ritter.
