I prefer the Century for that reason, but the SKB isn't too bad. Now the LG is just not doable for me at all.

Not sure why but every time I hear the debate on the preferred Roscoe body style I think of the "3 Bears".
Papa bears soup was too hot, mama bears soup was to cold but baby bears soup was just right!
Interesting. My Fretless is around 10 lbs with a Bubinga top plus a diamondwood fingerboard. It sounds phenomenal. Must be something about that recipe.
I think the "diamondwood" board has something to do with it as well.

I suppose I'm the outlier. I love the LG body- it works well for my long arms.
It's going to be a serious shame when the last diamondwood fingerboard is attached to the neck of a bass. Second best to that was Mike Pedulla's poly coating. He's retired now too.
I really hope someone picks up the manufacturing process again but I fear that it will be so incredibly expensive if the only market is fretless instruments. As if any other instrument even used DW as a fingerboard material.
Absolutely. But they all had Diamondwood FB's. I'm just saying that the heavier fretless basses sounded better (to my ears),
Spent some time with the fretless this morning. Going through church stuff, a couple new cover tunes - Boys of Summer - and some real book stuff for the upcoming jazz trio gig. Man, I forgot how awesome this bass is. I could (easily?) play it for any gig.
I recently got an Ibanez GWB205 and have been playing it in my practice room to get back in the fretless groove. LOL I am doing okay with it but it is not up to my standards yet. Working on Aja this morning. Fun tune to play.
That entire Aja album is a great bass work out! Love it (and Rainey's bass lines).
I remember why a long time ago I was thinking exclusively playing fretless. Honeymoon for sure but still. Fretless is so fun and different from fretted - and not just the fret part. There's more of a connection it seems. Hard to describe.
Yeah. I totally get it. Much more of a connection. Every slight fretting finger movement changes the sound.
The mahogany has aged well, too. It's darker than it was when it left. It's awesome.

Farewell to a fretless and my 150k-mile plug-in hybrid; hello to full EV and having a car payment again. Good news: the fEarful 15/6/1 cab fits in the new trunk without the rear sears down!
This is the best sounding Roscoe I've had. It "beats" my Koa 5 I think. It's different. The mahogany plays a roll for sure. But I like my noticeably lighter fretted for the longer cover band gigs. And I can be less precise and do more stage presence stuff.

The band has listened to the recording from this mor ing (I haven't yet) and said the bass sounded amazing.

What EV did you get? I got a Hyundai Ioniq5 this past summer and I really like it!
I bring a fretted along sometimes but my fretless has been my main since I picked it up. I won't say it always will be, but I don't see that changing anytime soon.
