Roscoe Club

Dang! I guess that means that my next Roscoe will take 2 weeks longer than anyone else's!

Why don't you go ahead and apply it to JohnnyG's build. He'll never know the difference since it's his first build! :hiding: :ninja: :hiding:

I shouldn't comment too much at this point since my build is just getting started. But Gard, I think you should add two MORE weeks to Joe's account. You can take them off my schedule, no problem!!!

Just don't tell him what top we're putting on that enhanced Ash!!!

...that's not how a retroactive 2 week wait works.

This is: I show up at your house unannounced, select one of your Roscoes, and take it with me. Then I ship it back in 2 weeks. Or so.

;)

Is it too late to retract my comments? :hiding:

....... Joe frantically looking up the phone number for a good multi-listing real estate agent and the head of the witness protection program!

Anybody with a Roscoe try to use theirs with an Aguilar TLC Compressor? I just got a used one from the classifieds here, and I swear, if I have the volume all the way up and all my eq flat, i can distort the pedal just by playing hard on one of my lower strings... I'm frustrated because the sound is exactly what i want in a compressor, but i can't play without worrying about overdriving it.

Sounds like you're overdriving something. It's the OBP-3 preamp in your bass, right? Does that have a gain control? If you can turn the onboard preamp down, that would help. The pedal might have a gain control inside, too, if you're not shy about opening things up. That's just a guess, though...

Yep, that seems strange, to the point that I would think something is wrong somewhere.

Are you using a power supply with the pedal or battery? If battery, you might want to change the battery. If power supply, make sure your power supply is rated to provide enough current. Just keep questioning everything...

I use an Aggie TLC as well. My Aggie pre and Bart pre both overdrive it if I boost them. However, my Pope Flexcore does not. Now, here is the real weird thing, all of my basses have the same output gain. It frustrates me quite a bit.

Even if the gain of all three is the same, if the Aggie and Bart can "source" more current than the Pope that would explain what you're seeing. Gain and power are two different things.

If it's a real problem for you, check the current output (source) spec for the three per-amps against the input spec for your box.

Just a thought. :hiding:

Wanna hear something crazy and cool? I told you guys before how the engineer/producer is in love with the Roscoe tone. Well, we're in the middle of recording the next song, and he goes on and on about the tone again. After I left, he Googled Roscoe Guitars, and sent them a note about how much he loved the sound of my Roscoe, and how he has to do little or no work to get a great sound out of it. He showed the message to me when I got to the studio today. That was a real first!
