Another beautiful CS+ 5! What a cool looking top! Is that monkey pod or koa?

Whoa! Got bizzy in here the last couple days...

;)

Ken, you got LABX and Bass Central confuzzled - I was at BC for over 5 years before I moved up to NC to work for Keith and company. :) On the strings, we found that those D'Addarios worked really well, were very consistent and reliable, and we get a very good deal from D'Ad on them (which from a manufacturer's perspective has to be considered), so that's what we use. As has been pointed out, we will be very happy to sell you sets direct (just give me a shout on the phone: 336-274-8810). Personally, while I like the D'Ad's, I'm a confirmed DR guy, and their sets fit on the basses with zero mods to the nut (the A string is slightly different, but not enough so that it matters at all).

Ying Hock, not 2-3 weeks, more like shipping in 2-3 DAYS, should be in Singapore late this week or early next week. :D

Everyone else - thanks for the kind words! :)

Ah, that is right:p. I know I bought some stuff from you back in the day, but forgot from where. I was thinking about Dave Avenius, who was at LA Bass Exchange and then went to Aguilar.

Thanks for the confirmation on the strings... .DR Hi Beams 45-125 it is! I look forward to getting the bass!

Yeah, DA is the LABX guy, and he's kickin' @$$ & takin' names up in NYC for the Aggie guys now. Talk to him pretty often these days, we use a lot of their preamps and are starting to offer the pickups as well.

Of interest to you, if you find you dig the way that bass feels, we are now offering an active/passive OBP-1 preamp with their JJ or PJ pickups as an option (we call it the AGV-J or AGV-PJ) :)

Monkeypod top and back, Spanish Cedar Body

Never heard of Monkey Pod, but it sure looks good! What tree is it from? Where does it grow? How prominent a change in tone does it add, and what sound qualities does it have?

Bob its from Hawaii and Latin America.
I wanted a warmth and accentuated low end with a bit of low mid growl as opposed to brightness/bias toward upper mids and highs. I play primarily Indie Rock.

Spanish cedar is fairly neutral tonally but with more warmth than brightness. I've gone for a wenge fingerboard and a wenge maple 5 piece neck. Roscoe CBarts and Bart pre-amp.

With these choices and the aesthetics of wood I was after I was looking at Koa, Redwood, Walnut and Monkeypod on the advice of Gard. I narrowed it down to that 2 on pure looks and decided to go for the Monkeypod as I think the final specs are pretty rare/unique for a Roscoe.

Im guessing Monkeypod is neutral/warm biased based on above but Gard will know best.

NBD!

I had a quick turn around for finding a replacement for my LG that I sold yesterday (looks like we have a new Roscoehead in San Fran). I picked up a new Century 3006 #6460 with a buckeye top on ash body. I love this thing so far and really believe it might be a lifetime bass.

Joe,

Thanks brother! Even though I sold my LG there is a Century at ABG with the JM setup. They sound nearly identical with the Century having a little more girth. Let me know when you plan on getting there. I need to go back anyway to get a bad pot replaced on my new one.
