Roscoe Club

let's see what hasn't been done yet at the Roscoe shop .....

:hmm: Maybe a Century Roscoe with 3 jazz style pickups strategically placed for optimal tone possibilities ..........

I've seen one kind of like that already. A J at the neck and a pair of J's in the MM spot.

Maybe some odd scale lengths?
Different finish?
New body style?

Keith (good name, by the way...;) ), things are actually beginning to progress for your (crazy custom! ;) ) bass, should have the last bit of stuff (the fingerboard slotted for your scale length) in a week or so, once that's here, the neck will start going forward, and everything starts to happen quickly. :)

Right now, much happening here, including my own new baby will be "born" next week!

:hyper:

Also, Joel, another step along the road to the "top secret project" has been taken this week.

:ninja:

:D
Thanks for the update Gard!

A little gig pic from last night. The Roscoe/Aggie setup sounds oh so sexaaay :bassist:

Hey guys. Just picked up a Century Signature 5 from the classified. I'm excited to get it.

Could someone tell my what strings the Roscoe's ship with, and what gauges. I'm assuming the used bass I'm getting has the original strings (could be wrong), and probably want to start out with a fresh set of the strings that the luthier feels works best on the bass as a 'starting point'.

Thanks!

It looks to be a beautiful instrument (it's the trans orange with birdseye maple board). Ever since I played Mike Arnopol's at his house, I've been interested in one. My interest increased when I picked up a Glockenklang Blue Soul, which has that sort of 'Bartolini' tone built into it (fat, smooth, a bit 'pingy' up top). Never did really like the look of the original models, especially those with the slanted pickups (pure IMO there) but the Century body shape/style is very nice... updated classic. I dig it.

It will be interesting if I can deal with the 18mm spacing over the long run. I'm so used to the 'normal, full' 19mm.

Congrats Ken. That's a beauty!

The Roscoe strings are bulk purchased D'Addario XL Nickelwound strings and are slightly different from the std. EXL170-5SL set (the "SL" is SUPER LONG, the non-SL sets tend to be a bit short for a 35" scale length on the B & E strings).

The gauges for the Roscoe sets are:

45, 60, 85, .100, .125

Let us know how you like the Roscoe once you gig with it a while.

I deleted my previous string gauge post since you got to it first, Jome.

Ken,

Congrats on the bass! I saw that one in the classifieds, it's a looker. I've put DR Hi-Beams on mine and like those as well with my particular bass (Roscoe Barts/Aguilar Pre).

As for the string spacing, the bridge is adjustable so you can space it out just a hair more but certainly not to the point of being a full 19mm. Like you, 19mm spacing is where I feel at home but, with my bridge adjusted out, I find the spacing comfortable.
