Roscoe Club

Roscoe bart pickups?
I had a fretted SKB6 years ago with a one piece myrtle body (purpleheart board)...Roscoe Barts (I think a demeter pre..that may have been the bass that started the Roscoe/Demeter thing...great combo)...it was an amazing sounding bass. I have no doubt that a myrtle wood body will sound killer for fretless!

Per Gard in the for sale thread -
"SKB Custom 5 (formerly SKB 3005)
Solid Myrtle body
Light Amber finish
Bartolini 3-band preamp
Bartolini/Roscoe (custom wound) pickups
Maple/Wenge/Maple neck
19mm/.750" string spacing
Unlined Fretless Bird's Eye Maple Diamondwood fingerboard (yes, that's Diamondwood, just MAPLE, not dyed birch)
Diamondwood nut
Black hardware
Case
I remember this one well, KILLER bass, whoever picks it up will be getting a winner."

It is on their website images under the SKB 6224 listing.

Had an odd string experience. I put new daddario exl220-5 xl strings when I got the roscoe. All systems go. Played a month. Then I put on a set of exl170-5 xl that I pulled of an ibanez btb, 35 inch scale, before I sold it. The B string was rattling like crazy. It worked fine on the ibby but was too short for the roscoe. Then I tried a b string from a new set of 170's. Same problem. I put the old 220 b back on. The other 170 strings were fine.

Seems strange. Both 35 inch scale basses. Both long scale strings from same maker.

If I were a Roscoe bass I wouldn't play for you either. Good Lord man, who puts used strings from an Ibanez on a Roscoe?! Beg for forgiveness then put a set of DR Sunbeams 120-40 on it and all should be good again. :D

Oh, heck here's the pic...

Uhhh....me? They were on it for a day or two before I bought the roscoe and parted it out. Although I did manage to procure the cheapest roscoe on talkbass I'm not quite ready to start burning $20 bills. I kept the nordy pre and was thinking of trying it in the roscoe one day. Is that ok or does it have ibby cooties, too?

I'm really happy with my Roscoe and not likely to jump from the fanboy ship anytime soon...
But I will mention that I heard the Gerald Veasley and Adam Nitti signature edition basses played by Gerald and Adam at the BBC a couple of weekends ago and they sounded just fine live and in person thank you. We can love Roscoes without hating on other makes.

And yes, I knew CC was just kidding...
