Roscoe Club

Yeah, I saw her, but thanks for the info. It's been an unusually good year for anyone in the market for a Roscoe 7. I've seen eight Roscoe 7's up for sale this year. Some are still out there. Here's a really nice Roscoe Century Signature 7 String Bass Guitar for sale at reverb.com.View attachment 729383

Love the burst on this one.

I have a question: as I posted on the previous page, I have an SKB 5 coming in today. I've never used strap locks, but I've also never had such a nice bass (and never had such a nice one be my only bass). I wear a Neotech strap that I love. Is there a consensus on strap locks for Roscoes? Or is it the same general Schaller vs. Dunlop vs. washers vs. Groltsch kinda thing, where it's ultimately a matter of preference?

Straplocks have been invaluable to me for a long time. Whatever brand you choose to use is up to you. I think Dunlop are way more secure, because once the strap's clasp is on, it's on...never had one fail on me. I don't like Schaller, where there's a nut on each strap end, that can, and has (for me), come loose and didn't seem exactly trusting.

Thanks for the recommendation! Any tips/advice for someone installing straplocks for the first time?

Your bass already has the Dunlop dual-use buttons on it - they function either as a stand-alone strap button, or will work with the Dunlop strap mechanism.

I'm with songwriter21, I do NOT trust the Schallers, I've had instruments fall off those. Dunlop? Never, not once in......well.....carry the 3....add the 2.....35 years.

Btw, careful putting the strap-end parts on, as they can take some force to install, especially with a thicker strap. The toughest part is pushing the locking clasp onto the button piece. I suggest, as I've sliced my fingers before in the process, pushing the clasp on with a small flathead screwdriver. Put the screwdriver on it's side, and use the end to force the clasp until it clicks/locks. This works every time for me, just be careful!

I've always used needle nose pliers to do that. Works pretty well....:)

BTW guys, I might have a Roscoe-Demeter preamp to sell!… still have to decide if I wanna let it go...

I would love to have it, but I have spent too much on preamps of late. I will trade you a 3 band bart from a Roscoe. I have an extra set of Roscoe Bart pickups laying around as well.

Hello there… thank you for the offer, but I'm trying to sell all the stuff I'm not using anymore to fund a project..

M

I think you should wait until after the first of the year and sell it to me. :D

I have a project going on as well, I bought a Roscoe TPB LG3005 which is going through a color change and I bought ACG EQ01 preamp and Aguilar DCB D4 pick ups

Roscoe TRB LG3005 - $1,500
Color Change for body and headstock (Shell Pink) - $425
Aguilar DCB D4 Pickups - $200
ACG EQ01 Preamp with black knobs - $300

I will have $2,425 into this project when it is done. Mrs. Crash only knows I bought the bass and was getting the color changed. ;)

Ooh, a shell pink Roscoe, I can't wait to see it. I had a shell pink CS '59 NOS P built, 7 years later it still puts a smile on my face!

BTW, took my SKB to practice last night, ended leaving it and bringing the Dinger home. That Roscoe is still the best bass I have ever played. It has the best neck, tone and B string I've ever run across. Every note is clear as a bell, so much so, I could actually cut volume and still hear every note. Decided to bring the Dingwall AB1 home to see if changing the strings (now wearing TI flats) will help it compete against the Roscoe (I'm not a fan of the TI B and G strings).

Cool deal - I did not know that. So even though I'm in the one-strap-per-bass faction, I've ordered in some Dunlop locks.

As it's quarter-of-December with Thanksgiving a week away, I'm starting to get the feeling the summer GTG isn't on...

So - having been freed from the burden of organizing that event, I expect @Gard has a whole raft of new Roscoe goodies for our Christmas lists...
Post the link to the e-store and I'll make sure it gets routed to the appropriate little elf...

BTW - I used-to could go to an individual FacePlace page if I knew what it was - such as the link in Gard's sig. No more.
No login, no content.
I actually can foresee a time when circumstances compel me to sign up (i.e. - my blues project guys can ever agree on a name...) but until that day, the FacePlace Iron Curtain is holding firm...

Ugh, sorry about the Bookface issues....

...on GTG's and what not....spring, hopefully. Really.

Big doings afoot in Roscoeland, they will keep me and the rest of Roscoedom a bit overly occupied for the next few months, but it will eventually settle into a routine after the first of the year, and at that point, it will be time to get serious about a hang.

Once everything is official, there will be news shared here and elsewhere about all the fun new things. :)
