Roscoe Club

I've been on vacation or something but...
Clint, I'm interested in following what you do with the TPB LG in both electronics and appearance.
I'm another owner of a TPB LG (#6) which is one of the natural ones. It has the original pickups but a previous owner swapped out the preamp with a Demeter which I like quite well. I've thought about doing a little finish work on the body, probably a very subtle burst since it has some wild grain in the ash. I play in a band with a guy who is super skilled at such things.
Here's a shot of all 10. It looks like yours is the first one in the left rack, mine's the second in the right.

Hi Bruce,
could you please post one or two more pics of your natural finished bass. I'm hoping to order my next Roscoe soon, well as soon as I sell my Fodera, and I'm really pushing towards a natural finished one with an ash body and no top would like to see a few more of them, thanks.

Hi Shape101,
All I have handy are a couple of pics from the bass's infancy in 2006.

And this one from a couple years ago next to my solid myrtle SKB fretless.

It's definitely a treat to play and has it's own vibe!
Before I got this, I was very close to buying an ash/maple Century Standard. Certainly no dissatisfaction with this one but I've occasionally wished I would have pulled the trigger on that Century.

Clint,
I'm not familiar with the ACG at all. I'll have to look into that one. What led you there?
B

I think I have tried about every preamp out there in my Roscoes. Demeter is still probably my favorite but I wanted to go in a total different direction. I had an Alembic years ago which had a single filter and liked the tone. The ACG has a low pass filter for each pickup which I think is really neat. You can get an idea what it sounds like on youtube acg bass - YouTube

Put some Gotoh 707 tuners on my SKB a while ago, just put some custom wood knobs on it last week, and now waiting on a new bridge from Jason at Hipshot. I'm also thinking of having some inlay work done for the 12th and 24th frets. I'm going to start posting some "transformation" pics soon. :)

Btw, Hipshot has got to be one of the best companies to deal with...such nice people!

I'm switching to the prima vera!
The more I looked at the picture, I started to change my mind. I think the prima vera will be the best combo of cool figuring and color contrast from the black diamondwood.

Excellent choice!

Yeah, I saw her, but thanks for the info. It's been an unusually good year for anyone in the market for a Roscoe 7. I've seen eight Roscoe 7's up for sale this year. Some are still out there. Here's a really nice Roscoe Century Signature 7 String Bass Guitar for sale at reverb.com.

Hey, just thought I'd drop by, seeing as I'm waiting on my Roscoe to arrive (I genuinely can't wait). I love the passion you guys have for these instruments; I couldn't try before I bought mine, but based on the reputation Roscoes have, I couldn't pass it up.

I don't know the serial number, but it's a custom 34" scale SKB 3005 with an Audere preamp, exhibition burl maple top, Spanish cedar body, and a bubinga fretboard. From what I understand, it was actually made for a Roscoe employee.

Anyway, good to meet everyone!
Dave

Edit: actually, if anyone could enlighten me a bit more on this bass, that would be great, I can't hear enough about it (it arrives today!). Is Audere an unusual preamp for a Roscoe? Are maple tops and Spanish cedar a standard combo? I believe this bass has been on TB for a while now: I traded for it from a TBer who traded for it, he traded for it, etc.
