Roscoe Club

It is a little slower. I know I'm not on as much as I am kind of happy with my bass and I'm not always looking for the next one. It's working great for church and I'm getting really used to playing it. I still see some beauties on the Roscoe Facebook page now and again. I'm guessing that the guys are still busy setting up shop in the new place.

I still espouse the virtue of Roscoe on various threads on a regular basis.

Wow! I've been off line for almost 2 weeks and all that I missed were 2 posts!

Not Much Roscoe talk going on on TB these days .........

I'm just getting over an out-patient surgery and finally got to go upstairs where my computer is to get on line. My Roscoe exceeds the Dr. allowed weight limit so I haven't played it in a couples weeks either. I've got a good wife though! She was sweet enough to bring the Roscoe downstairs and put in one of my stands so I could at least look at it! :)

It's almost as fun to look at as it is to play! :bassist:

Hah... probably because we're too busy making music with these beautiful instruments instead of talking about the next new shiny. Why tamper with perfection?

There's a lot to be said about taking time and learning all the nuance of your bass. Time better spent than on TB getting all gassy...but that's fun, too as long as you can control it. I've gotten a little better at both this year.

I started out the year with 11 basses... Once I got my 2 Roscoes my list went down to 5.

What didn't make the cut? Amercan Fender Precision, Matt Pulcinella Level 5, Carrigan Designs, Benevente, Human X.OC5...

What did I keep?
  • Fender FSR Precision Deluxe (Seafoam Pearl)
  • Squier 77 Vintage Modern upgraded with John East Pre-amp
  • Ibanez Cerro (Tuned E-C)

Interestingly, I also transitioned from a MPG Level-5 to a Roscoe.
Bought a really nice L-5 fretless and not long after the guy I bought it from decided he wanted it back.
By that time I'd had a chance to play a Roscoe and knew nothing else would do it for me.
Sold the MPG back for what I'd paid, which paved the way for the deal on my SKB 3006 fretless.
My wife still thinks the MPG was prettier (and it was stunning) but she doesn't play it - I do...

So....... She brought it down and put in a stand so you could see it, knowing that you couldn't pick it up...........

Hummmmmmmmm......

Could be sweet, could be evil :D

Just joking JOME. Hope everything continues to improve for you.

Joe, I hope you heal fast, well and complete!! It is a little slow here, but most of the faithful still check in. I miss Jerry (VroomVroom) and Michael (LilRay). I am still in love with both of my Roscoes and feel totally blessed to have such quality instruments.

I went to the Atlanta Bass Gallery yesterday to play some cool basses:
  1. New new Fodera Monarch Standard Classis
  2. Fodera Yin Yang Standard
  3. Marleaux Consat
  4. Sandberg
  5. Mike Lull
  6. Manne
  7. Fender Elite
Came to the conclusion that I am more than satisfied with the my 2 Roscoes.

(Although this guy came in with a Fodera Deluxe Monarch... but at $12,000? That's like 3 new Roscoe's... lol)

+1
I've visited Jim's shop several times and always come to the same conclusion. You can certainly spend more but you just can't find a better playing or sounding bass than a Roscoe!

Here's something new, Jome. It's just a cell phone pic, but I get to show off two new Roscoes in one week! Joining my Century custom is an SKB standard plus Koa-topped JJ and a Century standard plus flame maple-topped fretless JB. Yes, I sold/am selling a bunch of stuff to make this happen. Yes, that is SteveC's old JB fretless...I can't believe you parted with it! One happy camper right here.

I've come across many great Fretless Roscoes. But THE best fretless I've ever come into contact with,

image.png

A SKB with the thickest, most figured, Bubinga top I've seen. An ash body and more MWAH than is legal in most southern states.

Sadly, I let it get away. I have mixed feelings about running across this one again, mainly because I'd have to bring it home with me.
