Well, we've been building basses for a long time ;)....our records go back to right at 2000 on my computer system, there may have actually been several prior to that time, but I can't confirm it.

Thanks, Gard. That's good to know. I can confirm 5 Roscoe SKB-3007's with neck scarf joints, which I think Roscoe stopped building in about 1997. I own 1, and you can see 3 others in my Roscoe 7 String Bass Guitar Gallery on my Google G+ page. And there is a beautiful Bird's Eye Top one currently for sale on Reverb.com for $1650 !!! That's cheaper than a Roscoe 4 String! There's 3 Roscoe 7's that have been on the market a while now for under $2000, and the sellers can't move them. One here on TB, another at Guitar Center, Cherryhill, NJ, and that one on Reverb.com. The average price for used Roscoe 7's was $2000 for years. That dropping price speaks volumes about what most bassists think of 7 Strings. To bad, they're such fantastic instruments. Thanks again!:bassist:

I couldn't figure out 6 strings - and I tried 3 times. Can't imagine 7. I think 5 is my useful max.
You think I've got it figured out ? ;-)
I'll be learning until my last day.
But I wanted a 35" fretted bass I'd never outgrow.
Being able to explore some chording was/is a big goal.
I play very little on my 6's top string, but I wander over there from time to time.
Top string on the 7 will probably last forever since I almost never touch it. Yet.

Here's a suggestion that makes it easier to learn to use your 7's high strings.....
Think of your open low strings as a I-IV-V progression in the key of E. That's E-A-B with the V inverted to the B string.
Pulse the 3 low open strings with your thumb, and think of your 4 high strings as a 4 String Bass.
Don't worry about the names of the notes, just listen to the harmony and the open root notes will force you to find the right patterns.
Stick to Pentatonic at first, and when you're ready for chords, keep it simple. 2 high notes with the open low string make a triad. Parallel 4th's are easy and sound great. Once you're comfortable with the 4th's, then just add other notes for more complex harmonies. Good Luck!:bassist:

Taking my basses down to Roscoe tomorrow for some PLEKing and fret dressing. Hopefully I can get Gard to take some nice pictures for posting here and on Facebook. I have an SKB3005, LG3005 and a LG3005 Fretless which belonged to Kim Stone. Somewhere down the line Kim must have torn up a Roscoe as I have a fretted neck which came with the fretless as well but the headstock has a different serial number and color.

Absolutely beautiful AR!

Let us know what and how much improvement you notice from the PLEK.
