Roscoe Club

I went to Roscoe today where my LG3005 went under the PLEK. It is a cool process to watch, the machine does a lot of measuring. After all the measuring was over it showed I had some high frets, 22, 23 and 24 which was giving me a little buzz. Now for people who know me, I set my string height so low you can practically breath on the string to push it down. After Keith ran it through the PLEK, dressed the fret ends and put my new strings (DR Sunbeams 110-90-80-60-40) on, all I can say is WOW! Keith took a great playing bass and made it even better. Super low setup, neck as straight as an arrow and no buzz anywhere. the frets are even and smooth. I would definitely recommend this service.

Keith also told me he will PLEK any electric bass, Fender, G&L, Music Man which I think is cool.

Let us know what and how much improvement you notice from the PLEK.

...or guitar.

FYI, Roscoe instruments get a discount - $150; non-Roscoe, $225.

And yeah, it's that good.

(....although you didn't tell the class about the OTHER bass you had with you...the one with the perfect fret job... ;) Keith did that one, by the way. :) )

They did an amazing job on my LG fretless too.

Yeah, my SKB was right inline where the PLEK said it should be so Kieth touched up two of the frets and dressed all the fret ends.

My LG that was PLEK'd just feels so amazing and I am not just saying it to say it. For me and my LG it is a wow factor. I didn't play it as much as the SKB but that may change.

I've come across many great Fretless Roscoes. But THE best fretless I've ever come into contact with,

View attachment 876524

A SKB with the thickest, most figured, Bubinga top I've seen. An ash body and more MWAH than is legal in most southern states.

Sadly, I let it get away. I have mixed feelings about running across this one again, mainly because I'd have to bring it home with me.

Without a doubt that's the best one that I've ever heard. Something magical about the tone on that one!

And I let that one go not once but twice!:bawl:

To quote an Alabama alumni, "Stupid is as stupid does"!

Awesome pic and awesome collection!!! :wideyed:

I suspect that when you pull one of those babies out of the case the guitar player just packs up and goes home! :D

Thanks! I've been strictly a soloist for many years now, that's why I gravitated to the 7 String, it makes everything easier. But I would never take one of my 7's to a session where I'm expected to play bass, I'd probably get kicked out the door! Ha!

I checked out some of your YouTube music. You seem totally at home with the 7 string! You've got a really unique style of playing. Very entertaining! Love it!:)

Thanks for the compliments, and taking the time to give me a listen! It's really the design of the Roscoe that makes it easy for me to play my style. The smaller asymmetrical body sits comfortably between my legs, the string spacing lets me easily pluck the low and high strings simultaneously, but still fit my fingertips between the strings, and the neck is effortless to play. Plus the unique tone of the Roscoe is really inspirational!:D:bassist:

We listened to it here at Roscoe World HQ, thumbs up all 'round.

Alright! I've been approved by HQ! Thanks, Gard. It's good to know my tunes made their way to the Mothership. And thanks to you and the crew for making the world's greatest basses. What a relief it was when I got my first Roscoe and finally found the sound I'd been searching for. I play everyday, and after all these years, my Roscoe's still make me smile everytime. Thanks again!:):bassist:
