Roscoe Club

I got you covered.

There ought to be a law or rule about this kind of thing...and some appropriate punishment involving staking, honey, and fire ants....

Heya, been a while since I checked in. I was looking around the web (including on the classifieds here), and it seems like Roscoes went from having a resale value of around $2000 (usually a little more) to about 1700-1800. Anyone else notice this? Just a fluctuation in demand?

Hey guys,

I just tried some la Bella super steps strings and I fell in love with them at first contact..

They were tapered.. I guess I can't use tapered strings in my roscoe LG so what is my next best option closest to the La Bella Super Steps??

I tried the strings on an FBass..

Anybody know what strings may be similar to the labella super steps that I can use on my Roscoe?

Thanks

It's the market and economy. There are some good deals out there. I'm so close to buying back an old Roscoe of mine.

I'm gonna give it a real go this time. I've been a little inspired by some solo stuff.

Hopefully make some time to actually practice and develops some skill instead of just playing along with favorites and running church music. Which is fine, but it doesn't challenge me or help me grow as a player - at least technically.

Here's a big reason for getting it back as well. Not usually nostalgic but that was a great weekend of getting to know Jimmy and all the guys at Roscoe. Had a lesson with Jimmy using this bass.

I'm glad you got it back! Now just hang on to it. If you can, get off of the bass merry go round. The hardest part of that for me is not enjoying Talkbass as much since you won't be looking for the buy "high." Of course if you're like me, it'll take time to sell the stuff you no longer need. Good luck, and congratulations.

Picked up my Hoodie and got a change to hang with @JoelFT. Got to hear him sing and play a little Les Claypool.

So, I had picked up a very nice built and playing SX Jazz Bass that had some high frets in the upper register. This bass rivals an American Fender in quality and build and since a fool and his money soon depart, I had Keith PLEK it. Yeah the PLEK cost more than what I paid for the bass but man, this bass plays and sounds great. A Jazz bass was my first real bass and every time I pick one up it takes me back in time.

Oh yeah, the next time any of you guys go to Greensboro have Gard take you to the Blue Denim, really good Creole. I had the Crawfish Etouffee for lunch and took home some Seafood Gumbo for dinner. The food gets 5 stars from me.

Going down to Roscoe tomorrow to pick up my Hoodie and hopefully have another bass PLEK'd. ;)

Super Steps are more than likely just exposed core versions of their Stainless Steels.

I've been off the merry go round for a while - at least WAY LESS than in previous years. I could be very happy with my Koa 5 string. The 6 is for trying to stretch myself a bit. I plan to enjoy these two basses for a long time. I'm an ERB guy. 4's just don't do it, and anything but Roscoe seems...meh.

Wow, Bach's Cello Suite No. 1, is just an amazing piece and just as amazing hearing it on bass. When I am stressed at work, I will put my headphones on and listen to Bach and or Mozart.

Ok I'll try those then.. Thanks..

But the exposed core might be what made them so flexible right?

In other news...

Went to try a ton of "expensive" basses...

Roscoe seems to be better than the sadowsky and fodera basses I played so far..

-now, I've only played the showroom sadowsky and fodera basses.. So keep that in mind..

But I got to be honest, I recently tried some F-Basses... They give a Roscoe a good fight..

But I still got my 5-string LG custom..
