Roscoe Club

Hey Guys.. which of these strings are good to try out on a Roscoe 35inch..

Got to order them really really soon..

1. Anybody know if these strings pictured below will fit 35inch bass?

2. What DR strings fit 35inch and have a good fat-low-thick sound, and not a tinny G-string sound.. (round-wounds only though..)

3. Also looking at GHS boomers.. thoughts?

I've previously tried :

- Dunlop Superbright.. (maybe they were the marcus miller ones though..), Like them. but.. wanted to try more..

- Fodera Strings,

- DR
(don't' remember which! but it wasn't lowbeam/hibeam/sunbeam..etc..),

-Chromes flat XL?,

-probably some other d'addario strings..

-Fender strings. ( I think I kinda liked them.. can't remember)

-Random Ernie Ball slinky? strings.. dont remember! sheesh..)

point is, I've tried some pretty random strings.. but still looking.. searching..

need next batch..

I have DR Nickel Lo Riders on my SKB and they have are fat yet still punchy. I recently put Roundcore Boomers on my '68 Jazz and like them a lot - I think they're a bit warmer than the Lo Riders, but I haven't tried a 5 string set so don't know about the fit for a 35" neck.

I've tried most of the DR strings on my Roscoe's and they all fit nicely on a 35" scale bass. I prefer the Pure Blues but I also liked the Lo riders.

On the Smith strings, just my opinion but I'd stay away from a tapered B and/or E string. They tend to cause sound issues (kind of a chorusing sound) and sometimes extend too far past the saddle for my liking.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Bart singles ref CB soap bars? I am looking at an LG custom today within singles fitted.

The only Roscoe that I've owned with the JJ configuration had the stacked coils. Those had a very open clear tone. Definitely not the compressed darker tone you typically relate to the Roscoe Bart's (quad coil). If the bass has true single coil's I was suspect that it would be much brighter sounding. It also depends on whether the pickup placement was the std. JB placement. The JB placement has a lot more mid voicing.

....believe it or not, we now have t-shirts.

Same design as before, but now in black AND grey, Carolina blue, and olive green. I'll try to get photos soon. Our new supplier lets us do smaller batches quickly (they're literally a couple of blocks away), so if you guys have requests for colors, let me know. Short sleeves now, will be doing long sleeve in a few weeks as well.

PM me for details....still working on other swag, embroidered shirts, hats, knit caps, etc, and will have those soon as well.

I want the color of my bass on the shirt.. Or even my bass on the shirt. Ha

Can you do that? This color and bass hehe..

How about the headstock and logo!

And I'm in the airport flying with it to Australia right now.. 3 plane change! And so far they let me take it on the plane! But it's 50/50 evertytime..

I was talking to my t-shirt dude when I picked up the order yesterday, and we were actually talking about doing a light tan ("sand") shirt with a dark brown ink for the logo & art on the back - so, yeah, we can kind of get there! :)

The art on the back IS a 6 string headstock with the logo (will try to post photos of the colors and art today).

Continued good luck with the carry on stuff - did you print out the TSA letter?

If anyone needs to shield their control cavity (not body cavities) you can get 15' of copper slug tape from Home Depot for $8. Since the lighting and electricity is so bad at the church were I play, I had to do this to eliminate the 60 cycle hum. My pickups fit too tight to put copper tape in the pickup cavities so I am going to purchase some shielding paint from [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] to do the pickup cavities then put a piece of copper tape in the bottom and solder it to the control cavity ground. The only time I have ever heard noise from a Roscoe is when I had the Audere pre-amp installed which stayed in the bass about three days. I have never heard a Bartolini setup do this but in this building it does.
