ABG only appears to have a PJ at the moment.

I was up at Jim's store a few months ago and he didn't have a Roscoe J bass at the time. I guess that I'll have to trek back up there soon and check one out.

Gard ... can you give us more specifics on the Roscoe P? Fretboard radius, type of frets (vintage, jumbo, etc). type of nut, etc? I am assuming a couple different pickups? And it looks like it has the routing for a preamp?

Sure -

.75" bridge spacing (both 4 & 5)
1.75" nut width (4), 1.95" nut width (5)
9.5" radius
Dunlop 6150 fretwire (same we use on all of our basses)
Nut material is Graph Tech Tusq (graphite) black or white as appropriate
Aguilar 4/5P-60 pickup standard, PJ, JJ, PM, JM optional, other brands possible upon request
The body is routed for a preamp, so active/passive is optional, same as the J

I was hoping for photos, but was under a bit of pressure with time, and am not pleased with the results of my efforts. :p

Guess I better start getting used to 1.75 nut width.

Will maple boards be an option?

I dig the Hipshot vintage bridge, the no-neckplate, and the headstock. What bothers me is that why on Earth does any modern bass have truss rod adjusters where you still have to wiggle an allem wremch into a tight scooped out area, then pray you don't Nick the finish? Is it that hard to switch to the little wheel a la EBMM? That wide scoop out of the headstock calls attention to itself. Not a deal breaker, as the bass is crazy sexy, but that's the first thing I noticed.

We use the same trussrod access on every bass, it's a trademark of sorts. We like it. :) We don't find it difficult to use the access point we have, and frankly it's better than most, and certainly more attractive than a big honkin' chunk of metal sticking out of the end of the fingerboard - at least we think so. :)

I like that I can see the "layers" of my bass with that truss cutout.

It wasn't on a classic, it was an skb or Century I think. The slots just looked a little deeper than I remember. Looked like it would hold the string better too, I pulled a string out of the slot during a gig once. :laugh:
