Roscoe Club

Great bass tone and playing and a really tight band Jon! Enjoyed that. I miss the days when everyone was posting recordings and videos.:)

And, it just so happens that I recorded an original soundtrack yesterday (to send to Campbems) to let him hear the tone of a Roscoe with mahogany body and Bart/Bart combo. This bass has tones of growl too. I think the really thick Bosse top contributes to that (African wood). The main bass part is the Roscoe. I used a XXXXXX 6 for the chordal and melody lines.
As usual, it sounds best with head phones.

Well, a 'XXXXXX 6'!!! :nailbiting: What have we here, Roscoe Heads?????

A little sad and embarrassed to say no family pictures for me, just a solo Roscoe.

LOL Not really a secret. It's an Ibanez Prestige SR3006 (made in Japan) that I got from Roscoehead Chuck Moses. One of the best 6'ers that I've owned and the closer string spacing fits my hands perfectly.

Superb playing and awesome tone! Simultaneously inspiring and depressing (in a good way) -- between you and Joe Dart, I'm gonna be in the woodshed for a while!

Woah, there! I don't belong in the same sentence as Joe! (Unless it's like a before and after thing...)

Really digging my new Century Standard. My previous 5, a SKB 3005 was a beautiful bass. But, while it was a nice sounding bass, the tone was a bit too warm for my taste.

Swamp ash and maple fretboards are by far my favorite wood combination. That really shows with the new Century, very punchy bass and killer B string.

This bass is going to work great with this new music project I am in.

What wood combination was your SKB?

Spoke with Club Bass they said not taking trades so I might be selling my Roscoe Century 6 to help pay for the Classic 5. Thought I would give you guys the heads up before I pull the trigger. Decisions, decisions.

My new purchase is at Roscoe shop being plek'd and upgrading the pickups so I haven't received it yet. I'm wondering what the wood combination on it will be like tonally with the swamp ash body and cocobolo top and Wenge sapwood fretboard and Maple and Purple heart neck. Anyone know what I can expect and if the Wenge sapwood has the same growl that regular wenge has?

I'd like to join the club! November 25th was my 30th birthday, and I got permission from the siginficant other to go look for a gift for myself. Little did I know I'd come across a used Roscoe at GC that was previously owned by an old acquaintance of mine! I picked up this lady for $1500, which we managed to sneak onto a no-interest financing deal for about $30/month. Here are the specs:

LG-3000 model custom
Flame Maple top, Spanish cedar body
Amber finish
Bartolini custom P4 pickups with 3-way 18v active eq system
Wedge constructed neck
Ebony fingerboard
Black hardware
Original list price: $3000.00
Build completed 11/2005

I didn't used to care much for Bart pickups, but they really seem to work well here. Can't wait to try it in a group setting!

I have to brag on Roscoe and Keith in general. I purchased a Custom SKB and had the previous owner send it directly to Roscoe factory for Keith to Plek and swap the pickups out to my preferred choice. The bass arrived at the shop today at around 2pm. Keith called me this evening about 7pm saying it was just finished on the Plek machine and is oiling the neck and taking the pickups out for new install. He said it would be finished and shipped out by tomorrows truck. I simply can't believe the turnaround and service I'm getting with these basses. I've purchases quite a few boutique basses and never had service like that. He also commented that this bass was like a new bass and that he remembered when he was making it. Said the Cocobolo top was one of the nicest he's had in his shop. Also stated the Wenge Sapwood was a very limited run of basses and he could't get it anymore. I'm very pleased with my Roscoe basses and the service. I will definitely be doing a dream build soon through Keith.

It’s not bragging when it’s true! ;)

It must feel great to now have a relationship with Keith.

Props to Roscoe, Keith and to you for being diligent in your quest to find keeper basses!

Don't give up on those Roscoe Bart P/U's yet. Make sure that you try a few different types of strings on the bass before you make any changes. I can promise you that a Roscoe with the Bart/Bart combo will cut through a live mix so well.

Congrats on the purchase!:)
