Roscoe Club

+3 on Mono bags.

Maybe it's me and I have storage room, but I don't get rid of the case/bag/box/packing I receive a guitar in. I use that stuff to ship the bass out when sold. I have several new Roscoe bags, Protec bags and el-cheapo bags and the HSC for my basses. I only use the Mono bags for transporting my basses.

It's interesting that you have made that observation. I only have the M80, but I recently purchased a used Sadowsky MV5, where the finish on the bridge was blemished. I initially thought it was from the previous owner anchoring the hand there, but now, with your comment, I wonder if it could have been caused by a gig bag.
My other basses don't show wear there.

I have a Mono bag (I think it came with a Roscoe, at one point), a ProTec, one of the new TKLs, and a Levy leather bag. The Levy is *by far* the highest quality bag. I've had it for close to 20 years, and it's been around the world several times. Still looks brand new. None of my other bags (well, except the TKL because it's brand new) have held up at all. The Mono has broken straps, etc, etc...

By the way guys, if anyone has a Roscoe fretless that's not getting much use, I'd love to talk. I've got a fretted that might like a new home...

I assume you mean the $300-$400 Levy bag not the $120 bags.

Yeah, for sure. But, price vs quality it's hands down a great bag. And, after all, some Roscoes are over $5k. Seems like a worthwhile investment. I should mention I owned a Reunion Blues double bag and it was replaced, twice, in about 5 years. No comparison at all.

Hey Pacman

With all due respect, I would beg to differ with you. Glenn Cronkhite was the original Reunion Blues guy - actually he is the guy who invented the gig bag. When he left Reunion Blues the quality went downhill. I have an original Reunion Blues/Kronkhite bag from 1976 which is still cranking. It's beautiful and it has been around the world a few times too, with zero problems or repairs. It has kept my precious PRS #11 safe and sound for 40 years now.

The Levy stuff is good, but if you are spending that kind of money - and if you want the real deal - I would go with Glenn:

Which part would you like to differ with? That my bag(s) *weren't* replaced twice? Or that the quality of my Levy's bag is far superior to those 3 Reunion Blues bags I had?

It's great you had good luck with RB. My experience was completely different. Not really a point on which we can argue.

No argument to be had - you missed the point entirely - mine were not Reunion Blues, technically they were early Kronkhites. They were his designs and when he left over quality issues he got to take his designs with him. Glenn made mine himself. Sorry yours were not or I suspect you would have had better luck.

I have a double Reunion Blues bag about 12 years old that is terrible compared to the original Kronkhite one which is over 40 years old now. Nylon zippers instead of steel - the whole loss of quality in every aspect. The leather too. I even hear that RB are made in the Far East now. So I agree with you totally about Reunion Blues.

Just saying, If I am paying $500 bucks for a bag I will stay with US made and go with Glenn's bags.

To each their own - diversity makes the world go-round.

FYI, If this is a violation, please let me know and I will take it down.

Before I throw it up on the Classifieds tomorrow. Since this group is mainly Roscoe players...

Is anyone interested in a trade/swap for my Century Standard 6 (Serial #A082 / 2010)?

I am looking for a Century or SKB in a fiver, but would not turn down an LG with a maple neck.

Merry Christmas!
Zach
