Roscoe Club

I had some free time yesterday so I pulled out the Roscoe and started reminiscing a bit and played an old tune by Darrell Evans called "Trading My Sorrow". If you've played Christian music for a while you'll probably remember him. He had a couple great albums in the late 90's. I always loved his bass player. He did a great job of merging traditional playing with chordal parts to give the bass part some life.

At any rate, I laid down the main bass riff to "Trading My Sorrow" and kept adding tracks until I had a bass Orchestra version of the song. It was a bit hard to make the melody lines sound right (the phrasing was a bit difficult for me) but it was fun working it out and playing the Roscoe is always a blast.
I used my Roscoe SKB-3005 for all parts.

So funny you brought this up. Right before one of our services last Sunday, we did a montage of Worship songs from the 90s and 2000s. Everyone sang the bass riff at the beginning in unison before we kicked it off.

I've been thinking about getting one just in case James desides to retire (or runs out of parts again...).
Which bass you putting it in? The Koa SG still has one in it doesn't it?

This Koa LG will always live with the Demeter BEQP-1!!! Thanks to you!

The new Demeter BEQP-1 is going in my Swamp Ash w/Koa top/BEM Roscoe LG Custom. I'm expecting it to have it's own sound, but still in the Demeter Kill Zone.
I have to drill a small hole for the Mid High/Low switch, unlike with the Koa LG, but I suspect my nerves will permit that. :nailbiting:

So did you order the Roscoe version (with the mid sw)? The one that I installed in the Koa/mahogany LG was the standard model. Honestly, if it were me, I'd determine which switch setting I preferred (and there is one that you will ALWAYS keep it on), tape the switch up (so it won't short anything out in the control cavity), tie strap it securely in the cavity and close it up. IMO the difference in the sound of the 2 positions of the switch are just not worth the risk of drilling a hole in that pretty top (Koa is fairly bad for splintering) :nailbiting::wideyed::jawdrop:.

Now that's a great idea!!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: (three thumbs up for that one!)

How would you describe the Sound character of the Demeter? I’ve always liked the warm fat thing their regular preamps have, but haven’t heard their onboard bass pre.

Very glassy highs, musical mids (not nasal) and very smooth lows. The down side of the Demeter (if you want to call it a down side) is that even with all 3 EQ's full up the bass still sounds good (meaning you're limited as to how much you can boost or cut). Totally killer slap tone!!!
If you like radically shaping the tone though, the Bart is better (as is the Aggie OBP-3). Both of those preamps allow you to boost so much that you can overdrive the sound.

The Demeter preamp in a Roscoe maybe my favorite sound. I was so sad when they stopped using them.

Question for my Roscoe Brethren. Are the Bart Soapbars Keith has used always been the same in the Roscoe basses. For instance the older basses such as a 2010 or newer, is that the same as what he uses today?

2nd question:
I’ve had Basses with the Classic and Bright Bart’s. How do the Roscoe Barts compare to those?
