Thanks so much for getting back with me, I LOVE the way the SKB balances, and how easy it is to reach the first fret (a common difficulty with 35" scale basses). I'm really wavering over whether to put together a Gecko (they've got a finished body in stock that REALLY appeals to me) or save a bit more fun money to pick up the pink ivory Roscoe that Greg still has in stock.Honestly, the only thing that I'm struggling with is the Bart setup. I loved that same setup in my Lakland 44-02, but I always found Barts to be a little on the tame side.
I am a Roscoe user that also built a Gecko 6-string. The quality of the Gecko is top-notch. I got an unfinished 5-piece wenge/bubinga neck and left it unfinished. I apply wax to it every couple of months, and it is so fast and smooth, never sticky. (Warmoth let me know they can roast their maple Gecko necks (not explicitly listed as an option on their website), so you can leave them unfinished as well.) I even got Warmoth to make the pick-up routes in custom locations. Plus, you get to put whatever pickups and preamp you want in your build. (I chose Aguilar DCBs and a Nordy 3-band w/ a/p switching and a passive tone control.) I could not be happier with this bass, especially for the amount of money I spent on it.
