What did the drummer name his quadruplet girls?
1 Anna, 2 Anna, 3 Anna, 4 Anna ..........![]()
I have to make a slight edit here Joe. As someone who lives in North Dakota, home of Lawrence Welk, the phrase is actually anna 1, anna 2, anna...

There are a few basses I wish I still had (2 of them Roscoes) including this 6 string Roscoe that I got from you. Most of my Roscoes are signatures but this one was a killer. In fact every one of the more than 13 Roscoes that I have had has been a killer.I only have one to post, but I keep reposting to remind everyone - myself included - how amazing this bass is.

Yes, it was a little expensive (about $2,700 about 7 years ago) but it is also the only bass I have kept for any length of time. It is the one that has lasted the longest and the one I will never (I know, strong words on TB but I think it's true after all this time and my history) sell. There are maybe 3 basses I wish I still had. 2 are not Roscoes. One was a Sadowsky RV4 sea foam green jazz that was just killer. I haven't tried a Roscoe Classic yet to compare. The other was a Rob Allen Mouse 30 which is apples and oranges when it comes to Roscoe as it's a completely different animal. The third was either of the Roscoe fretless basses I let go. I don't really need a fretless any more, but man, they were amazing.
FWIW, I tend to agree. Although I no longer play Roscoes exclusively, I have personally never played a better bass at any price point. I come here to see and read things Roscoe. When I want to see and read things about other brands (other than the occasional reference), I will seek out or create the appropriate thread.I agree that there are a bunch of great basses out there at many price points. I guess I tend to agree with what was maybe hinted at in a previous post, that in a "Roscoe Club" thread that maybe people want to keep it to Roscoe basses? I have nothing against anyones love for other instruments, but maybe they get discussed more in depth in a thread dedicated to them?

Me too which is why I sold it and it is why I went from 11 Smiths to 1 (which may go up for sale soon). Still got 3 Roscoes though with a 4th being custom built now (will have pink ivory fingerboard). I was a snob about "signature" Roscoes, but that bass I got from you, I think it was a plus?, was every bit as good as the signature in tone and playability and the top speaks for itself. The range of Keith's instruments from standard to signature is consistent and inspiring. Would love to try a Classic. That was a special 6 string. I tried to love it 3 times but I am just not a 6 string guy. I think I've owned 8 Roscoes, and yes, they have all been awesome in their own way. It's just that I can only justify so many basses and dollars at a time.
If not, maybe they are in terms of their business arrangement and goals? Maybe one is like the TalkBass marketing and sales rep, distributor, and PR person rolled into one?
Otherwise, I don't know how to explain every bass acquired being:
the best bass ever played, as a precursor to its listing and sale here, under the premise of waiting for another commissioned bass to be constructed, and once it is received it becomes. .

over and over again, etc, etc, etc, in the most predictable and patronizing manner.
It's the Roscoe Club here, by golly. Maybe post XYZ basses in the XYZ club thread? Otherwise, every time I see XYZ basses posted here, I am reminded that
As XYZ basses and their features are repeatedly "showcased" in the Roscoe Club thread I find them increasingly unappealing, even disliking them, probably unfairly. However, the predictability of their appearance is becoming somewhat comedic. Oh well, free speech, and all of that. .
- "Roscoe" is a benchmark that newbie/obscure makers wish to emulate and attain status of
- XYZ basses are definitely not Roscoes and never will be
- "Better than a Roscoe" is a siren song, and a likely rally cry for definitely not better than a Roscoe
- I am not swayed in the slightest to consider buying the so called "better than a Roscoe bass."
- I am dissuaded from buying custom, expensive products advertised on websites with no listed phone number or address.
if you go into a Shelby club and call them Mustangs better be ready for a fight . If you go slinging your home made cookies outside wholefoods , better be ready for a fight . If you have the brass nethers to enter a Roscoe club and say xyz bass is better , be ready for a fight grls !
I haven’t tried the Audere, but Anthony Crawford sounds amazing with his Bart/audere equipped six string Roscoe.Bart/Bart for the win! My favorite combo in a Roscoe. Second favorite, believe it or not, was Bart pickups with Audere pre. Haven’t tried a Demeter pre yet though. OBP/DCB’s is ok but not like the Bart’s IMHO.
