Definitely one of the totally liberating things about a Road Worn/relic bass!:)

Actually, I think campbems and Devon are the same person.
If not, maybe they are in terms of their business arrangement and goals? Maybe one is like the TalkBass marketing and sales rep, distributor, and PR person rolled into one?

Otherwise, I don't know how to explain every bass acquired being:

the best bass ever played, as a precursor to its listing and sale here, under the premise of waiting for another commissioned bass to be constructed, and once it is received it becomes. .

the best bass ever played, as a precursor to its listing and sale here, under the premise of waiting for another commissioned bass to be constructed, and once it is received it becomes. .

over and over again, etc, etc, etc, in the most predictable and patronizing manner.

It's the Roscoe Club here, by golly. Maybe post XYZ basses in the XYZ club thread? Otherwise, every time I see XYZ basses posted here, I am reminded that
  1. "Roscoe" is a benchmark that newbie/obscure makers wish to emulate and attain status of
  2. XYZ basses are definitely not Roscoes and never will be
  3. "Better than a Roscoe" is a siren song, and a likely rally cry for definitely not better than a Roscoe
  4. I am not swayed in the slightest to consider buying the so called "better than a Roscoe bass."
  5. I am dissuaded from buying custom, expensive products advertised on websites with no listed phone number or address.
As XYZ basses and their features are repeatedly "showcased" in the Roscoe Club thread I find them increasingly unappealing, even disliking them, probably unfairly. However, the predictability of their appearance is becoming somewhat comedic. Oh well, free speech, and all of that. .

I hope you feel better after than Uncalled for rant lol. That’s the good thing about living in America as we can all buy and play what we like and love if we work hard enough. Also I bet I could give you the numbers of the friends who have purchased my Devons and all wouldn’t sale for any price. They all own basses 2-3 times the amount and have said the Devons are the best they’ve ever had in their hands. I love Roscoes as much as anyone but the prices of New Roscoes are 2 times the price at least.

“Liberating” indeed. . when at your next gig if you either scratch your fine exhibition piece and get sad or worry about scratching it then you too should by a classic. .
Have always liked the way nitro finishes "age," even if the "aging" occurs in a shop on a new instrument. Love the look, concept, features, and sonic pallete of your Classic. For many reasons I have stated, that style of bass is not ergonomic for me.

Saying that, I take few gigs where my basses will be battered. If I do take one, I also take a beater bass. Then, if it gets bashed, broken, or stolen, life goes on without too many shed tears.

If you look closely, you can see that the finish on my Roscoe Classic has been 'checked'. Such an awesome touch, I just love it! I've tried many, MANY 'Jazz' basses over the years and never liked any of them but this Jazz is the anti Jazz. Still a Jazz, but without all the stuff that make normal Jazz basses hard to play.

I never in a million years thought a passive 'J' style bass would become my main player, but here we are!

Dang what a beauty ! That fretboard ! Moar pics !

Talking about mine? If so...thanks!! I love a good pau ferro board. Wenge is my favorite, but I've loved Pau Ferro ever since I first got a USA Spector back in the 90's.

Now if you want a crazy fretboard, that would be my Roscoe Century 4 string!

My Century 5 string has the WENGE!!!

And more of the Classic.

There is probably a reason for that beyond the insinuation that people are sheep.

It's no secret that the market for high end instruments isn't as big as it used to be. So it really says something about ones reputation for quality and excellence if in a diminished market they can continue to increase their price points.

Also, is it really competition if you're able to charge 200+ percent of what someone else does?

Ferrari and Dodge don't compete with each other in the sports car classes. While a Viper is fun to drive, it's no 812.

“Liberating” indeed. I challenge all of now.. when at your next gig if you either scratch your fine exhibition piece and get sad or worry about scratching it then you too should by a classic. Simple, please report back with your findings after next soirée

As much as I dislike getting my SUV dinged in parking lot spaces, I still park it in parking lot spaces. I display my basses to enjoy their man-made beauty and dislike getting dings in the finish and will avoid dinging them as much as I can, but they all have a job to do and that’s to make music and me money for new basses, and each bass must share in those goals or else.
So, I take my basses to those places I work in without fear of damage or loss, but I’d never buy a beat up vehicle from fear of parking lot door dings and wouldn’t buy a bass I wouldn’t take out of the house to make money or exhibit on my Bass Wall!

I only have one to post, but I keep reposting to remind everyone - myself included - how amazing this bass is.
koa 5.jpg

Yes, it was a little expensive (about $2,700 about 7 years ago) but it is also the only bass I have kept for any length of time. It is the one that has lasted the longest and the one I will never (I know, strong words on TB but I think it's true after all this time and my history) sell. There are maybe 3 basses I wish I still had. 2 are not Roscoes. One was a Sadowsky RV4 sea foam green jazz that was just killer. I haven't tried a Roscoe Classic yet to compare. The other was a Rob Allen Mouse 30 which is apples and oranges when it comes to Roscoe as it's a completely different animal. The third was either of the Roscoe fretless basses I let go. I don't really need a fretless any more, but man, they were amazing.
