We had a good time. We had a few regulars cancel at the last minute due to sickness but still a decent turnout.

@SteveC I played your old fretless!! It’s a nice fretless, but I really liked the Meyer Gecko fretless!! I tried to trade Joe my modded fretless Roscoe, but he wasn’t entertaining any of that!!!

I recognized the old fretless. I thought about it just today as I was pondering what I might do. I keep thinking a Roscoe P bass, but I play my 5 and think how awesome that neck is. Maybe another Century 5 but with a PJ set up or something.
That's exactly the conclusion I landed at personally, @SteveC.
I’m thinking get the “classic” sound with the Aguilar stuff P/J option like the classic series but keep the familiar feel of the Century body/neck that I know and love.
Man. I really, really like that Cherry burst on the swamp ash body.
I wonder if he could do one like that in midnight blue? I don't have a fretted LG 5 string with Roscoe Bart's. Or an SKB or Century for that matter...
Ugh. I may have a plan for next year's tax return.
You guys are a terrible influence! I don't know how @SteveC can be a mod here and stay on the Dave Ramsey gameplan. He's got to have iron willpower!

It’s been really hard. I was crazy for a while. New basses all the time. I really buckled down the last few years. I have managed to pay off all my “unsecured” (stupid single guy never gonna be married so why worry about it) debt so all I have now is a house and car payment. It’s really awesome. I have been GAS’ing pretty hard these days. I mentioned something about a purchase and my wife said “oh the GAS” so she’s well aware. I have been wanting a P bass lately (it’ll get worse after I see Pink, Chicago and Snarky Puppy in the next 4 weeks) but then I play my Century 5 and wonder...maybe I can play the “I need a comparable backup bass for gigs” card. Any decent 5 would do I guess but the neck of my Century 5 is so special.
Looks like you guys had fun! Can't believe I got sick the night before after doing a one-day round-trip to Greensboro just to have Keith put his set-up mojo on my basses for this very occasion.
We missed you Dave. It is a bummer but at least you got your Bass fine tuned. Next time you make a run like that let me know. I'd have loved to have met you somewhere and rode over to Roscoe world with you.
We'll have to schedule a mini-Bass GTG in the next few months.
I guess that's one area where we differ. I don't have multiple basses for back ups. I have multiple bass to acquire different sounds and vibes for different genres of music. I play different when I pick up my Roscoe 5 with RW's than I do when I play one of my 4 string P-basses with flats (or my fretless). I'm not into redundancy. In 45 years of playing I can't remember a time when I had a bass break (other than maybe a string).
As for the feel of your Roscoe 5 string neck, yeah I agree, not a better feeling 5 out there. But a 4 string Fender feels like home too. It's far less stress on my left hand than any 5.
But hey, if a 5 string is you''re only thing, then get another one (or 2) and install different strings on them and enter a new world of inspiration.

What keeps me from a 4 is that I seem so comfy/used to a 5 that I’m not sure if/when I’d use it. Yet I love the sound when I hear others play one.
I’ve had one time in 35+ years I’ve needed a backup bass. There are some tunes that I do that ”require” a 5 and we don’t always have tome for me to switch. I struggle with the decision. Part of me would like to shoot Greg an offer on that Roscoe P he’s trying to move.
