Roscoe Club

I've owned many different boutique and high end bass brands with multiples of each and the only 2 brands I've owned that have always been very good are my Devons and Roscoes. Matter a fact, I've had a few brands that build that cost $6500 that was so bad that I would have been upset if the cost would have been under $1000. Once you have confidence and find a brand that consistently get's you what you pay for then you stick with them.

Which is why IF I were to get say a 4 string P bass, even though the neck would be different from my 5 string, I'd be inclined to go Roscoe as I know that I like what they do and would probably like another bass from them. I'm so tempted to make Greg an low but respectable offer...

Mah ... my AO ‘60s jazz (the one in the avatar), aside from being a beautiful bass, sounds decidedly as ‘60s jazz basses sound ... I can’t imagine even a Custom Shop yielding better results (never tried one, though) ... however its neck, sometimes, gives me a lot of work ... that’s why a bass with a super stable neck would be more than welcome ... by the way (sorry as this is a Roscoe-dedicated thread) this is the sexy picture which Eddie’s Guitars published on Reverb to sell the bass which I ultimately bought:

I got a chance to go to Bass NW in Seattle in the early 2000’s. I played all the boutique basses they had in stock, and like others said, the Roscoe LG3005 was the one that spoke to me above all others. The contours of the neck and the tone just felt right. I have ordered all subsequent Roscoes without playing first and have not been disappointed.

You know you could find a dealer who offers a return policy for a brand that you are considering and buy one close to the specs you like. If you don’t like it, return it, which is something not too widely offered for used basses. I would trust my reaction to a bass over someone else’s!

Seriously, Everyone knows that I’m a Roscoe guy through and through but I’d put my 2 Fenders against any Fender clone.

I bought this Roscoe in Seattle, it's the only LG 3005 they had, and it was at a bass boutique shop.. Was it this one? I think it was that Bass NW shop.. I own it now. funny;)
