Roscoe Club

It's a mahogany body instead of ash.
I'm really looking forward to this. It's gonna have J pickups back by the bridge like Gard's fretless, plus a wenge board.

Dave, Jeff's right, it's "just" a Standard, not a "Plus" - the Plus has an exotic top.

:)

Cool! Nothing wrong with that, and with the JB setup and wenge board will be killer.

So you decided to keep it. Nice! That's a killer bass. One I would call a "lifer".

I've been thinking about grabbing a 5 string Precision style bass(Sadowsky or Lull), but I might end up leaning towards a century with soap bars. How do you guys find them in terms of approximating that type of tone? I know a lot of the Bartolini pickups have that split coil magnet orientation.

Off topic regarding upright gigs when you are a bit out of shape... Try sitting on a stool. It will allow you to put a bit more downward pressure on the strings with your arm weight and reduce fatigue.

Well, I go back and forth, but as I sit here watching Carole King and James Taylor with Leland Sklar on bass and marvel at his tone and skill, I always think if he and Pino and James and all those other guys can do all that on a P, why can't I? Then I realize, because I not them. I'm me. My sound for the longest time has been a more modern "Bartolini" bass equipped tone. And that's ok. Why do I fight it? I get gigs - if I want. People like my sound and my playing. Maybe I need to stop trying to be everyone else and just take their influence and make impart of my playing.

I thought about sitting but I feel like play better if I stand - at least or upright. I lived through it and we sounded pretty decent. I may try to get my chops up and maintain the better in the future.

After reading this, I am more convinced you should check out that book I mentioned.

How much does this weight.

It's actually much lighter than you'd expect. On my digital scale it comes in at 8.4 lbs.

Amboyna burl top
Swamp Ash Body
Wenge Wedge Neck
Bird's eye Maple Diamondwood finger board
Lined fretless
Graphite Nut
Bartolini pickups
Audere Preamp

Hey Gard,

Where can we find the prices on Roscoe "guitars"? I mean the actual guitars you guys make. Those guitars you're posting on Facebook are pretty sweet. Just curious.

The guitars start at $3295. That's a stoptail w/ no top, no case, etc. So you can easily add $400-$1000 if you go for a fancy top, a fancy fingerboard, a trem bridge, etc.
