Roscoe Club

The ‘P’ GAS is alive!!! Go P! Go P!
Let me make this clear, my friends. I love the Pbass sound. But even more, I love the trebly sharp edged tone (Marcus Miller) that I can get with the Jbass (it has other tones, of course). It's one of the reasons I'm still playing bass today!:bassist:

Having said that, I'm reminded of playing my first Roscoe at some loud gigs (early '90s), and just basking in the sound of that modern full sound spectrum 35" scale bass blast with some mid scoop. I still love it!

What do you think Gary?
Is there a good chance that this is the final 2nd week of the latest "2 more weeks" time increment that will actually produce a tracking number? :)

I remember why at one time I was going to make the fretless my main bass. I like the "connection" with the fingerboard and instrument. More responsive to input and manipulation by fingers, can "mwah" if wanted or play almost as straight as a fretted.

Not sure that I could use a fretless exclusively now as the cover band plays some tunes where I think you just need/want that fretted sound. "Kick Start My Heart" or "Pour Some Sugar On Me" don't seem like they'd work with fretless. Church and jazz for sure fretless.

You know, I asked for this. I could have picked a Roscoe out of the classifieds. Or Reverb or Ebay, etc. But no! I had to custom order one. Serves me right to wait longer than a man can stand.:laugh:

Right, but it isn't quite the same. I've custom ordered 3 Roscoe basses. I still have 2 - fretted and fretless Century 5's. The fretless I just bought back after letting someone "rent" it for a few years. I also had a Century 6 a while back (bought that back like 3 times trying to love it) that is probably the nicest Roscoe basses - standard or signature - that I've ever seen. I just couldn't get along with it. It was beautiful, played great and sounded amazing. Just not my thing. The wait stinks, but it's so worth it. It's truey "your" bass.

Actually, your wait is easy!! It could be done standing on your head compared to being on the build’s wait list for a couple of years BEFORE the build starts!
Sometimes we can be so spoiled!! :D

Catch and release. . . My first Roscoe is For Sale - 2014 Roscoe SKB 5 Custom J3, traded for my prior workhorse Pedulla MVP5. Was my main bass until receiving my custom Roscoe fretless build. The new bass gets all of my playing time now. Mixed feelings about letting it go. . . But there it is. . . Waiting for its next player and home.
