Roscoe Club

A bassist that I know uses an unlined Warwick Corvette fretless 5 in a 3- or 4- piece rock cover setup, and the audience/bandmates have never complained. Seems weird to play that combo (rock covers and fretless) in theory, but it has worked for them locally and they get rebooked.

Do a rock gig on fretless = don't slide all over, etc. @SteveC, I'm pretty sure your technique could make the 'fretless in rock' work if you want it to!

Yeah, I don't slide all over or over do the "mwah" factor...although during run through on Sunday at church I did do it at every opportunity, just to get it out of my system and throw the band off for fun. In the past many people didn't know I was playing a fretless as mine is lined. I'm sure I could make it work if I wanted. It is an amazing sounding and playing bass - fretted or fretless. I'll bring it along for my backup on stage. It'll make for something nice to look at on stage. Maybe try it for a set and see. I did use it for a singer/songwriter type gig and it was awesome. Guitar player I play with LOVES it. The tone is to die for.

Maybe the best basses anyone makes!

I’ve yet to play a fretless on a gig. Much of the time the sound on stage is terrible and I can’t hear myself properly, which is essential for playing in tune.

I can't disagree. My 2 main basses are Roscoes. I have a G&L Tribute JB-2 that I have strung with flats just for fun. I usually play DI and use IEM's so hearing isn't an issue. At gigs where I use an amp, I have no problem hearing s I'm fortunate.

I had my best live tone to date , Classic ( La Bella LTF) into a Peavey 1x15 combo ... if you can believe that. Was perfect . I've decided I love flats on the P's for live playing . Instant good fat bass without fartin around .

If you can get a good sound out of a Peavey amp then you've certainly accomplished something amazing! :roflmao:

Actually if it's one of their new amps it may not be so amazing. All of my opinions on Peavey gear is based on the TNT and Bass 400 models from the 70's. Can you say nasal and honky?:help:

But I do totally concur on the La Bella flats on a P-Bass!

Okay, I’m going to try the Chrome flats! I’ve never tried them and who knows, I might become a fan of them!
My recollection of Chromes is that they're pretty bright sounding out of the package, almost round woundish, but with the smooth feel of flats. Like you said, you might just become a fan.:)

I got the good news from Keith today. My Custom Signature LG 3005 is on its way to Duluth, GA! He sent me a few pics and I’m really happy how it turned out.
