Roscoe Club

2 amp gigs this weekend...glad to have gigs, wish they were in-ear, though.

I have a question running this setup, though. Besides having 2 wireless transmitters, how do you guys run 2 or more basses in one set? I'm thinking of running one on my wireless rig into the amp, and then the 2nd bass just direct with a 1/4 cable and all I need is the swap the basses and swap the 1/4 at the amp input. DI will be off the amp tonight.

Any other suggestions?

Fun to have the fretless back at church.

Transmitter lives on my strap in a leather pouch I had made. I use the same strap if I change basses.

I need a new instrument cable. This one looks good. But I'm looking for a high-end cable. What's the best?

This one looks good:

I just want your opinion, in case you came across one that really made a difference.

I like Monster and this Mogami I bought from the classifieds, which has the Silent 1/4 TS for easy disconnect.
You did say, ‘high-end’!

Played my fretless at church and a cover/originals gig today. I forgot how fun it is to play fretless. So much more in touch with your playing. I remember why I thought I’d make fretless “my thing” a few years ago. If it thought it’d sound good while playing Motley Crew or Bruno Mars I’d play it on the cover band, too.
I still think that Roscoe fretless basses are maybe the best basses they make.

it’d sound good

A bassist that I know uses an unlined Warwick Corvette fretless 5 in a 3- or 4- piece rock cover setup, and the audience/bandmates have never complained. Seems weird to play that combo (rock covers and fretless) in theory, but it has worked for them locally and they get rebooked.

Maybe this falls into the category of 'close enough' techniques: really want that P sound for some songs = roll to the front non-P pup, maybe right-hand mute. Do a rock gig on fretless = don't slide all over, etc. @SteveC, I'm pretty sure your technique could make the 'fretless in rock' work if you want it to!

Maybe the best basses anyone makes!

I’ve yet to play a fretless on a gig. Much of the time the sound on stage is terrible and I can’t hear myself properly, which is essential for playing in tune.
