Well after waiting for a set of Wenge Covers for the back of my bass from Roger at THGKnobs since Thanksgiving of last year he finally messaged me saying they finished today and are mailing out lol. Looks like the new Waterfall Bubinga bass will now have some wenge covers.
It is a typical terrible gc picture…

Should be a solid bass. Enjoy it. I have 2 Century Standard (Plus - fancy laminate top) 5 string basses and I LOVE them.
Overpriced. I don’t think I payed more than $2,750 new. That was built like 9 years ago.
Local sale only so I’m safe. That is one hell of a bass though.

That was a very cool bass and I loved everything about it EXCEPT the wider 19mm spacing and wider, but typical, 1.875” nut width. It could go from very round and warm to a very funky tone easily.
I know a lot of folks like Barts around here, but I’ve never been much of a fan of them. That bass made me like Barts again as that J/MM combo sounded fantastic.

I think my woman is one who wouldn't want the family back together. It is an amazing bass. The top is almost as thick as a custom or signature. The wenge board has great grain and sound. For my 1st build, I think I did OK and Keith of course picked beautiful woods.Lol

The last "carrot" to get me to pull the trigger was having it ready for the GTG I was going to attend - in 6 weeks! I remember I flew in on Thursday afternoon, made it to the shop and played it that evening. It was amazing. I have a picture somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Big smile on my face. I used it Saturday day for a lesson with Jimmy Haslip. That was also very cool.
Lots of memories in that bass.

That was such a fun weekend. Somewhere there's a picture of Jimmy and I as well. Wow, that's a beautiful bass. At the time i was playing jazz basses. I thought this would be my "last bass" as it was 6 string with jazz pups. What else would you need? I was playing in a jazz group that did some Yellowjacket tunes at the time so a major influence there. Love it as I may, I never seemed to be able to incorporate the C string into my playing. It wasn't that the neck was too wide or anything. The neck is EXTREMELY comfortable. I just never seemed to fully grasp the C string. If that were a 5 string I would have never sold it. Live and learn I guess.

I’ve seen a lot of Roscoe basses with quilted tops and that one is easily the nicest quilt I’ve seen on one.
I agree. And it's just a Standard Plus. I swear the top is 3/8" to 1/4" thick. It looks like you could swirl your finger in it. I think there's a cherry laminate between the swamp ash body and the top. And the grain on the wenge board has a knot or circle part that almost centers on the 12th fret. So cool.
