Except you shouldn't need to wipe ANYthing on the oil finish Roscoes. They're maintenance free, as far as I know. Since they're not really oil.

Jon,
I think you might be confusing the Roscoe flat finishes with the oil finishes.
Your basses may be different but this one definitely appears to be oil (as did my 3006 Signature with the walnut top). I also spoke to Keith a while back about what to put on them and he agreed that the Beeswax would be good.
The top on this one definitely absorbed it too. Much better depth after the application.

A bit of confusion here.

The "oil" finish we use is a poly/oil BLEND. It does not REQUIRE regular attention for maintenance but it won't be harmed by it either.

We do not recommend using any particular product on it, just wiping it regularly until the finish starts to look "dry" then using a wipe on poly/oil blend or an oil like the one Joe mentions (which I think will be OK) to "touch up" any "dry" spots.

i.e. you're both "correct".

I'll break down and try a couple of these fancy beers that you guys keep going on about. Maybe I'll be won over, maybe not. My biggest issue is I don't like a beer that I feel like I have to chew in order to drink----I prefer liquid, thankyouverymuch.

The last thing was actually the only thing I was really wondering about, and that question's been answered now, so I will just shut up. For now.:p:D

Oh, just because it's dark does not mean it's "thick" (although yes, some porters and stouts ARE indeed a bit more well...STOUT...;) ), there are fantastic ales and IPA's out there with real FLAVOR, but not so much "body" to them. I can make recommendations if you wish (as can some of the other folks 'round here). Be careful though - my wife used to be able to drink just about any beer without really giving it a thought, and now she will pour out a BL before she will even consider drinking it. Finding out that there is REALLY GOOD stuff out there as regards beer is just like trying to go back to playing an SX after getting used to a Roscoe. ;)

Trust me on the important issue, I'm all over that...got my plans I do....

I am in the same boat. My 112 pound wife recently called me to meet her and the girls for dinner at a local joint on Friday evening. I was working a bit late, but by the time I got there she had reserved a table for us and not only had she ordered me an IPA but was drinking her very own Guinness draft. I was so proud I was speechless (* And any of you that know me ,knows that means a lot!).

I've created a Beer Snob Monster, and I love it...

Really nice Joe, I can't wait to see them in person. I want to play Gard's new fretless again, it has a wow factor to the tone.

I am not sure if I will have all three of my Roscoe basses at that time. Mrs Crash wasn't happy I bought a new bass without consulting her and she has told be I have to get rid of one. She wants to see me list it, so I am not sure if she is testing me or if she really means one has to go. So, I am at the dilemma of will it be the CS+4jj or the LG2005. :crying: It definitely will not be the new Century as this bass feels awesome! :p

So much for the saying it is better to ask for forgiveness instead of permission.
