Roscoe SoundClips 3 (from Roscoe Forum)

For some reason my browser won't open SoundCloud - might be a school blockage thing. I'll try from home. It's just a rough background track, but I wanted to "go through the motions" of posting to see what it takes for if/when I actually do something worth hearing.

It's through the headphones (and speakers if they're on). I'm was just connecting an XLR from the DI on the Tfunk and using a XLR to 1/4 male phono adapter to plug into the audio interface.
I'll try just going from the Tfunk XLR to the Mic XLR on the rear of the audio interface and see if it's an issue with the adapter.

Try it at home tonight Steve and if you have any issues PM me and I'll walk you through it.
All that you need to do those is click on the "Share" tap in Soundcloud (to the song that you uploaded) and cut & paste the link into the TB Thread post. Then highlight the link and select the Soundcloud icon in the TB menu to wrap the "Soundcloud" tags around the link.

Obviously the mix was based on my iPad speaker...I'll need some better reference speakers I guess. :eek:

Just wanted to go through the motions to see if I could manage the steps. Success.

The keyboard part is using the smart keyboard on iPad - way better than I could do myself. Drums are an iPad loop. The bass would obviously be replaced when I get an interface.

Day gig is done in 3 weeks, but summer gig is keeping a 4 year old boy and 7 year old girl occupied, and out of trouble all day. Hopefully I can get some time for myself.

Still need to get an interface...

Hoping the Geddy will sell soon to help finance the recording thing.

Mine stays in my bag for both session and live work....although it's certainly rarely used for the latter. (But when you get in that situation, where the engineer insists on getting the signal before it goes to the amp, it's awfully nice to have a wee bit of control.)

Thanks for tip Jerry on the Radial JDI DI. It's definitely more within my current budget and based your comments, and a few reviews that I read, it should improve my recorded sound.

I have a JDI that I use for my FOH/IEM gig at church and it's a great DI. That said, there is something to the sound of those REDDI's. At least I have a decent DI to start with.

Here's another Bass orchestra song. It's based on the Allman Brothers tune "Les Brers In Am".
This song begins with one of my all time favorite bass riffs. It was one of the last tunes that Berry Oakley recorded before his untimely death in 1972. He was definitely one of my primary influences on bass.
I used my Roscoe SKB 3006 and 3005 LG 3005 basses for all bass parts and I recorded it using Reason 6.5.

I shared this clip in a separate thread this past weekend, but I figure I might as well post it here, too. Since it is a Roscoe and all...

"Skip" (arranged by The Virginia Tech String Project)

I used the bass below, which is kind of special. It's closely modeled after Jimmy Haslip's bass: very similar woods & identical electronics. The pickups are slanted so that the treble strings are warmer and the bass strings are more articulate, and the controls are volume, volume and 3-band EQ. Jimmy runs his EQ controls wide open all the time, so that's what I did in this clip, too.

Like a combination of my fretted ash and fretless mahogany basses. :)
I'd have to get rid of both of my current Roscoe's to get it. :crying:
