Wood is simply magical stuff, innit? And those folks down in Greensboro definitely honor the magic in it by doing such great things with it.

With woods like these, why anyone would want a painted instrument eludes me.

Looking at my current Roscoe inventory, I'd say I'm good on 4's and 5's. So I'm thinking 6-string for this one. If it were me (ya'll tell me where I'm wrong), I'd do this:

- Century 3006 ($3995)
- Buckeye Blurl Top ($600)
- Ash Body w/ Wenge shim ($100)
- Wenge center neck, standard spacing ($150)
- Bird's Eye Maple board ($175)
- Buckeye Burl Inlay ($60)
- Bart/Bart electronics
- Hardshell Case ($200)

FAIL. My math was wrong. I forgot the top + $600.

Anyone got a better idea?!? I'm open to suggestion.

I'm going to lean toward at least part of what Jeff is saying.

I'm still going to go with the ash/wenge shim on the body, but on the fingerboard, I really think Wenge is a better choice for a couple reasons.

First, color-wise, you have a very light piece of Buckeye, and putting another piece of light-colored wood next to it will make it have a very monochromatic scheme.

Second, you have a BUSY top, and putting a BUSY fingerboard next to it is a case of too much of a good thing, IMO.

Less is more here - the top needs less going on around it, and more color contrast to make it stand out without being too crazy-busy.
