Rotosound 66 Drop Zone Plus

Anyone here have any experience with Rotosound Drop Zone Plus strings? I've got a parts bass that's waiting on a 35" scale neck, and my current plan is to tune it down to A, but then I discovered these strings designed for F# standard. They seem cheaper than any other custom extended range set, but I can't find much on them in the way of sound clips or reviews.

I haven't seen many reviews either but they are definitely worth a try. I've had good experiences with the rotos I e tried.

Very delayed update, but I tried them, and I wasn't a fan. Currently running a custom set of Stringjoys 165-125-95-75 in G# standard and am much happier, the Rotos were nice but the low F# string has all kinds of weird overtones, I think due to the extreme taper - the string doesn't taper to full diameter until right before the bridge pickup on a Fender Jazz. I may revisit them but for now the Stringjoys are scratching the downtuning itch for me.

Just curious... How long is the taper on the Stringjoy .165 (and maybe the .125)? Is the length of the taper something that can be customized?

Surprisingly they aren't tapered at all, but they intonate just fine. The Rotosound strings aren't tapered outside of the 175, which has a very long taper.

So, are you saying Stringjoy doesn't offer the tapered option on any of the larger gauges?

To my knowledge, no, there doesn't appear to be an option on their website, but I'd recommend emailing them and asking. They've been super helpful when I had questions.

Reviving this thread to correct my previous response, the Stringjoy strings have a slight taper behind the bridge saddle, the taper does not extend to the speaking length of the string. After ordering a couple more sets I realized this.
