Rotosound Solo Bass 55

I was wrong, Dean Markley helix are steel pressurewounds. They're apparently a different shape than most pressurewounds.

Somewhere on that link it says they are compressed from side to side. If that's true then they aren't compressed like the roto 55's. I read on talkbass recently that DR's are compressed side to side to increase mass. I don't know how true that is though. Either way these strings are interesting and have my attention.

*Anybody interested might want to check behind me before talking my word cause I'm no string expert.

I got 2 sets of these 55s for Christmas, and I promptly put on a set, and played a church service with them.
They are very exciting, very easy to play with beautiful tone. A little warmer than the 66's but still clear and very articulate, less finger and fret noise. I'm looking forward to playing them for a few months to see how long they can go.

Leverurs, thanks for bringing up the Roto Solo Bass 55's! I haven't used them in eons, but they're excellent strings!

I'm using GHS Pressurewounds on my main bass and I loved their tone, and feel. I tried a few sets on my Rick 4001 back in the day, and they were fantastic. I switched back to using D'Addario Half Rounds on my only because they were easier to find locally, and this was back in the olden-days, long before the Internet and Bass Strings Online. I've got to order a set of Solo 55's from BSO for my Rick!

.... I'm looking forward to playing them for a few months to see how long they can go.

They go for ages, and IMO they get better and better. I used to use SuperWound 707 back in the day, which was essentially the 55 with a bare core over the bridge saddle. My last set of 707 were over 20 years old when they came off and I went to 55's. More recently I moved to Chromes, but if I ever want some of that Roto magic back I know the 55 can deliver.
