Routing a Spector Neck Pocket

3) Most likely a flat pocket will be fine, if you happen to have trouble you can always shim the neck. With the way that bridge is recessed, I would guess that there isn't very much if any neck angle.

Great stuff. I do have the fretboard pieces so that math will be easy. I may factor a bit less depth just to compensate for the fretless fingerboard ending up at what the frt height was. Thank you!

Yes. This is in my head so before anything gets cut I'll with through that and be sure. One advantage I have I think is that, if practical, that I can leave as much extra current neck wood as possible should that be necessary. Thanks.

Great pic and that is truly the closest to a before and after pic that's in my head as I have seen. Nice.

I say, go for it! It doesn't make sense to have an instrument kicking around that you don't have any use for. If you pull it off right you will end up with an instrument that is usable and you can actually enjoy, rather than an instrument that you cannot use right now.

I would say though, that if it were mine I would first try and make it usable as a neck-thru bass, as it just goes with keeping the bass somewhat original; but as you have said already, you have exhausted a lot of resources and have the new neck already in your possession, so I guess you have your mind made up! Whatever you choose to do, please keep the pics coming, I'm sure it will turn into quite a nice bass.

Well. Just to keep this current, I've done nothing more yet on the actual routing front. Busy summer. But, I did just pick up a nice Legend 5 Classic that will take all the guesswork out of the placement, measurements, depth, etc. so someday I might actually get this project started...
