Thanks! Yes he was.Wow! It looks simply glorious!
Say, was he using a chisel to knock wood off the back of the neck in the 4th pic?

The compound radius was something that Steve suggested, pointing out that the flatter shape as the FB reaches the 12th fret and beyond would more easily facilitate chording and help ease playing where the neck widens out. Alembic gets credit for both the body and headstock shape. You're right about the tuner alignment re. downward pressure - no trees should be necessary as the pressure should be correct from the nut to the pegs, eliminating buzz on the B and E open strings.I love everything so far including your taste in compound neck radius.
also the fact that the headstock shape looks like it might put little or no lateral angle on the strings (I mean sideways) unlike so many custom made basses where the funky headstock shape puts the tuners in blatantly wrong positions for correct downward only pressure.
great plan.
to show what I'm talking about being bad headstock design versus functionality compared to your bass with its intelligent design,
as an example of a flawed headstock (or tuner location) by a luthier on a fairly expensive axe... with no disregard to the presumably amazing bass guitar that my pic shows. .. please check this out. ...
Sucks, those holes could have easily been drilled so that the string goes straight through the nut...
I left the shop around 2 driving like I had a new born with me. Thought I'd miss rush hour, but there was a back up just before the 17th Ave. turn off - 4 car pile up! I'll post clips as soon as I figure out the dizzying array of sounds this baby delivers and I figure out how to post 'em. Lot of figuring to do.....I don't think anything is worth a trip down Deerfoot in this weather!
I went out earlier, around 6:30-7 during snowfall and it was just god-awful. Glad to see you got your baby home in one piece! So... shall we get sound clips?
Awesome idea - maybe a province wide one - Spring/summer though!Or potentially a calgary get together? I was trying to get Steve to call me and let me check it out prior to giving it to you! Also deer foot today was nothing compared to my white knuckle drive to banff for a gig!
Maybe it's time to start thinking about the All Alberta Bass Roundup! This is a bump I can definitely appreciate.
