I tried to like Oblivion too, but it didn't feel anywhere near the same as Morrowind. To me Oblivion felt like a generic medieval RPG while Morrowind was this whole new alien world where I didn't know what to expect. While I lost far too much time to Morrowind, I hardly got into Oblivion before I lost interest.

I just tried to play Oblivion again recently to see if my feelings have changed towards it, but it doesn't like something about my new gaming rig and randomly crashes after a few minutes of play.

As for the Witcher, that's next on my list of games to play. I got past the long tutorial and into a little bit of the main game and I felt a bit overwhelmed. It felt like the tutorial skimmed over some crucial game mechanics. Hopefully the manual can help me there, if I can find it again.

I'm behind on video games by at least half a year. I'm aware of what's current (not so much anymore), but I don't get around to playing them until they've been out for a few months. I notice that I really don't miss much, there's help available if I really need it, and the games are much cheaper. Maybe once a year (if that) I'll buy a game right when it comes out.

And I agree about Morrowind vs. Oblivion. I have 100+ hours clocked into Morrowind (I was at my grandmother's house with nothing to do), while Oblivion I stopped playing after maybe three days. I didn't just get bored with it. I was sitting there asking myself why I was still playing it. Definitely look into Morrowind

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't have restricted myself to RPG's. I guess I'm so used to them being the mainstay of my gaming that I forget that I do enjoy other genres as well. As long is at has some sense of adventure, then I can enjoy it. Heck, I remember half-life; that was insanely fun!

Glad you like it I've been thinking about picking it up and trying to pry myself away from rpgs too, borderlands seems like the happy middle.

The witcher is good. I keep meaning to get back to my savegame, but keep forgetting. Septerra Core was a decent rpg. Plays in XP/2000 without any hiccups, not sure if it will play in 64-bit version of XP or on vista/7. It's oldschool turn based battle, fairly interesting storyline to it. If you can find it in a store, it usually comes bundled with SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division.

If you don't mind point and click adventure games, try the longest journey or dreamfall.

Ive heard its good, havent played it. From what people have said it is pretty similar(too similar for some) to Fallout 3. As far as FF style Rpg's I have no clue.

I've recently been loving using a psx emulator to play my psx games, which imo, are some of the best games made including some of the best rpg's.(ff7, Dragon quest VI, Breath of Fire 3+4, Front Mission 3, and so on) and if you can spring for a controller for about 20$ its just like playing them on the console.:hyper:

*note* you can find back-ups of any game online also, but it is *illegal* unless you actually own a hard copy of the game...:ninja:

This works to. I have on it on my Itouch to play FF IX :ninja:
