he's already played Half Life 1, and was asking for new games. Therefore, I didn't put Half Life 1 on my list.
just break down and buy World of Warcraft. all the recent changes make it great for someone to start playing. ten different races, ten different classes, on two factions.
there's a reason 14 million people are playing it
Also, I know its console, but if anyone on here hasn't played Shadow of the Colossus it is worth buying a Playstation 2 just to play.

I play WoW and I'm bored of it. Got to 10/12 on the new content within 3 or 4 weeks(Cho'gall is a joke of a final raid boss), then just stopped raiding. It's stale for me. I need a new world, new story, etc.
Some great ideas in this thread though. TOrchlight looks like a stupidly fun dungeon crawler!
And I think I'll finally be using Compatability Mode on Win7 and hit up some fallout and half-life installments.
I'm also looking at a new MMO. Rift looks ok, basically WoW 2. Could be fun for a while, since they actually have the marksman/hunter archetype I love WITHOUT the stupid pet (the one thing I hate about WoW's incarnation of the hunter).
Though SW:TOR is probably gonna get me in the long run
And I think I'll finally be using Compatability Mode on Win7 and hit up some fallout and half-life installments.

Fallout New Vegas is definitely worth your time. Very similar mechanics to Fallout 3, but extensive plot.
Torchlight is fun, but it's too easy to just summon lots of minions and follow the wall to win without thinking. Basically Diablo 2 with prettier graphics.

Rift sucks, just so you know. The end-game content on it is terrible.
I just completed my 165th skirmish victory playing Lord of the Rings II; Return of the Witch King. 
Edit: that's just for my latest create a hero. I created several over the past couple of years. Does not include regular Lord of the Rings II Battle for Middle Earth. (I think I need a new game.

Just got an email from EA about a new space RPG called Darkspore. Looks pretty cool. According to Gamespot it's suppose to be released on 3-29

I've played for four years, but every few months i take a month off.. keeps it from getting stale and gives me knew challenges when i get back. i'm not into raiding anymore, did it in the golden age (burning crusade) that was enough for me.. now i'm just guilded with my cousins and we just have fun getting achieves and leveling alts.. it was all about finding a balance for us..
pvp is still fun tho..
but i get where u are coming from. it has gone to the casuals..
