Double Bass Rubber protectors for side of basse

I made my own out of a couple of layers of belt leather bonded together with Barge cement. Secured them to the bass with double-stick carpet tape.

I've used the clear tubing you get at the hardware store. It doesn't work on all basses but Its cheap and easy to replace. I slice long pieces with a razor and then cut them to the size I need, and as the pieces I have installed fall off I just install a new one. The key to cutting the tubing is to cut a straight line so it stays on. I use a 2 by 4 block of wood and a thumb tack at each end of the tubing, then I get a pretty straight line with my razor blade.
Good luck
