Running Through Two Inputs at Once?

Hey,
I just picked up an Ampeg SVT classic which has both a regular input and a padded -15 db input for hotter signals.

Would it be bad to run my Pbass through the regular input and a hot keyboard signal through the -15 db input at the same time?

Of course I would only be playing one instrument at a time but would it be bad to keep both signals going in at the same time?

I wouldn't see a problem running two instruments through, but I would be concerned about running a keyboard through your rig - esp if it's as hot as you say it is. Keyboards/synths can generate a lot of energy that 'could' damage your rig if you're not careful, especially something like a sine wave or thick sawtooth wave bassline. Just be very careful with the volume control on the keyboard and your choice of sounds.

You would probably do better running it through a PA system however.

No harm at all to the amp. If the keyboard has a hot output, it would be totally appropriate to use the padded input.

The one thing that could be damaged is the speaker(s) if you're not careful. Just do some experimenting, starting at low volume, and gradually increasing until you get the levels you need, or the speakers start protesting. There can be a lot of strong, low bass energy in synths, so use common sense.
