I am player that uses many effects, I've run loopers, I've run pre-effect di's and post effect di's, I've tried it all. Depending on what you like as your core bass tone, if you like SWR's tone in general, then try a SWR MO bass, but get one with the Mo Controller or you will be using it for recording or practicing only. After years of pedal board hell, I found the Mo Bass has some pretty decent effects, though individual pedals can be more fun, and gives it to you in a very easy to use package that you can run wet and dry AND be able to mix how wet and how dry you want each of those to be. You can find the amps usually in the $500-600 range, and including the controller for under $800 most of the time. If you don't like SWR's core tone, you can get the Mini Mo which has the effects and controlling options, but is just the preamp. Those usually go for $500-800. I like SWR's core tone, though I wish it had a tad more grunt. In fairness, that's not what SWR is aiming for, but I get a very solid usable tone, with all the effect options in a powerful 900 watts at 4 ohms. As far as effects blending, it's the easiest and smallest way to run your clean and dry without 2 amps.
