Rush Limbaugh and the Rams

I didnt hear his actual comments so correct me if Im wrong, but was he referring to the article in Newsweek a few weeks ago about the question, "Is Your Baby Racist"? I read Newsweek's response to him, and they clearly stated that if he (or anyone) had fully read it, they were not saying baby's are born racist. They stated that scientific research has proven that babies can distinguish color in ppl at an earlier age than ppl think, regardless of what color the child is. I have the issue and will reread it to get details, but at no point did they elude to what he was talking about. They said that Rush just took the title and an assumption and ran with it.

If that was indeed the article he was talking about it sure makes sense.

I figured while listening to him that there was way more to the story (as usual) just never got the itch to find the source.

Once again, the full story was hiding under the guise of "satire", meanwhile some of his listeners that did not (or would not) find the original study have no clue what really went on in the paper. I guess that misleading people is also satire?

Limbaugh has done exactly what he is so fond of accusing others of. He tried to get into a club that wouldn't accept him after he himself completely poisoned the situation with years of thoughtless, irritating and incendiary commentary - then blamed someone else for his own actions: he immediately blamed "the left".

He is very fond of accusing others of not taking responsibility for their actions, but that's exactly what he has done in this case. In this specific instance, he is revealed as a hypocrite of the first order - and of course, he'll never admit it. But he's the one who created the situation, and he did it for money by taking a specific set of stances on his radio program. Since he is such a devout fan of capitalism, he should admit that there is a cost as well as a benefit to the commercial success of his position - and one of the costs is that he has made himself unfit to join the company of certain circles. The NFL owner's club and the entire context of NFL ownership are such circles.

A great drinking game:

Every time Limbaugh refers to himself, have a sip of your adult beverage of choice.
You're severely limiting your drinking time. For afternoon benders, your game will suffice, but what if you've got a room full of people and it's after dinner?? You can drink to every time Keith Olberman mentions either Rush Limbaugh or the Beck dude. You can start your party at lunch and be in a coma by the end of the night with a dinner break to make sure you have something to throw up later (if either show I mentioned doesn't do it first).

So by your same standard you would have no problem with banning Michael Moore from owning a team? Or are you just for applying the first amendment to those you agree with? So far no one has dealt with the one key issue. How do Mr. Limbaugh's views effect his ability to the "job" of a minority owner (investor) of a sports franchise? It's not like he would be the face of the franchise. In most cities, most owners rarely deal with the press personally, much less are the faces of their team or make most of the decisions running the team. They usually defer to the general manager. Here in Detroit we see Mr. Ford publicly voicing his positions on the team, at the most twice a year, and he's the sole owner. What the NFL did essentially was bar Mr. Limbaugh from being an investor in the league because they don't like his political views. I personally think the bigotted action of the players association on this front is shameful.

Hehe. Too bad my liver and remaining brain cells hold veto power over my length of my drinking binges.

This is capitalism at work. The owners don't want any Rush headaches.

I must say that I've been disgusted at all the completely made-up quotes I've been reading and have seen on TV. Journalists should consider doing a little thing called "fact checking", even if they don't like a dude's politics.

Did the NFL and players association actually "bar" Limbaugh, or did they merely voice their opinions?
It was my understanding (and I might be wrong), that the bid he was involved with was dropped from consideration. I'm not versed in the bidding process, but I doubt there's anything illegal about that and I don't consider it wrong. If the powers in charge felt that Limbaugh's other career might cast a bad light on their product, I don't see the problem. I do believe they'd drop Michael Moore's bid and Larry Flint's bid if the same kind of fuss was stirred up.

I deleted my post because I thought it was too troll-ish, but thanks for commenting anyway. ;)
