Rush... Unhappy ticket experience

I thought they mostly went to the secondary scalper market.
Most probably do, hence the "large chunk" nomenclature was used for what I was listing. A lot of what I was referring to were also "pre-sale" tickets, as sports venues or general event ticketing services did similar things for my previous employer. They'd have random sports games, performance art (ballet, opera...), and festival tickets they'd give away if they were feeling nice, or employees could bid on them.

If it was really desirable, the big wigs would snatch them up (for free) instead. This was confirmed as the CIO was a close friend of mine. If it was a concert he knew I'd like, he would try and nab them for me. He also secured some baseball tickets for the IT techs and their "plus 1's" for free.

You've just been abused by the Ticketmaster machine.
Obviously Rush would be a huge seller, and the pond scum that run Ticketmaster know it. Of those 10000 tickets, I'll guarantee way over half were held back to go on sale at a way higher price.
I've gotten to the stage where I refuse to use the site, and my respect for any artist that sells through them also takes a nose dive, particularly those who claim to speak for the regular working folk
The problem is the venues lock in Ticketmaster and the artists sometimes have to participate or miss an entire market.

Funny thing about this post,

I was just waiting to buy Sting Tickets, went on sale at 10:00am EST. I had just found a pair of center balcony seats, and selected them... by the time I got to the purchase page they were gone. When I went back to search for more, all the decent inside seats were gone. So I bought 3 lawn seats for the price of one balcony seat, and fingers crossed for good weather ;) always been my favorite anyway... Another friend was lamenting about her tribulations last week trying to buy Springsteen tickets, and fighting in the queue 30 seconds after they went on sale.

I say, Kill all the BOTS and let AI sort it out

I saw a Sting impersonator on a cruise ship last year, he was great and did the hits and also some of his more recent work. So I figured its time to catch the real deal... I really enjoy Dominic Miller as well who will be on the tour.

£1.50 in 1977, and you could probably have actually seen the band... Of course with inflation that £1.50 is work about £12 ($15) in 2026 money.

A seat in the block just above FOH. For far less than UK ones. I have an old friend in Poland I should visit, and they are going. We'll be in different seats. This might work out
I just checked the Ticketmaster website and the dates for Krakow and Milan are not on there. Do you know if that means some other agency is selling the tickets to those shows??

I just purchased tix for Munich. Half the price of US tickets, decent selection, online transaction was painless, and fees were only $2.50 per seat. While ticket purchases for US shows left me angry and depressed, my experience with the EU purchase has somewhat restored my faith in humanity.

I'm fortunate to be at a place in life where I can swing something like this. The show is on my birthday, and Munich is my dad's hometown — so it's a special destination for us. My wife said I'd be stupid NOT to go.

I wasn't even going to attempt buying tickets even though I'd love to see them. Actually, I did think about it for a split second since they will be playing 4 times here at the end of June BUT... then I saw the ticket prices and nearly fainted. They are severely out of my budget to say the least and I just started a new job so... whatever. 🤷‍♂️

As much as I really want to see them when they come to Florida, I don't want to see them enough to pay $400 for cheap seats.
The ticket prices are a bit silly. Saw them in Tampa, maybe 2015. Might have been Neil’s last tour. Amazing. Saw them 5-6 times since the late 70s. I’m not trying to take anything away from their new drummer, it’s a difficult spot to fill. I’m a bass player (Duh, Talkbass) and love Geddy, but I was just as excited seeing Neil play live.
I’m about as old as Getty and Alex, but crankier, so overpaying for large venues isn’t my thing anymore. I’m content remembering them the way they were, or watching a concert BluRay.
