Rush: Why the gender gap?

My best guess is that most women are superficial and stupid. Of course, I'm rather picky along those lines and this could be why I never married until the age of 30. :)

Little judgemental don't you think?

As a rule of psychology, women tend to be drawn to emotional stimuli much more than men. Rush's music, along with other 'blokey' bands, don't contain much emotional content (certainly not in a way which women would easily respond).

And thanks for backing my theory.
Obviously, there are exceptions, but I think this goes all the way back to when the women tended to stay home with the children and nurture them emotionally, while the men went on hunting expeditions for days or weeks and probably had plenty of time to discuss fascinating, object-oriented things like what type of wood makes the best spear for taking down a deer, and that sort of thing.

("What's the best bass for metal?") ;)

But seriously... I'm not a sexist, and I think there's an element of truth in this.

I think the main reason Rush isn't in the Rock N Roll Hall of Shame has to do with one of the old farts on the voting committee that also happens to have something to do with Rolling Stone Ragazine. You know, that magazine that was relevant back in the 60s. Now, it's the flavor of the month club. In a letter sent out a few years ago by the Rush fan club, he (the previous mentioned A**hole) was quoted as saying Rush gave him a headache, and haven't really done anything commercially successful. I guess something like 25 gold and 15 platinum albums don't add up, after all, they're no Justin Bieber. As long as he had a vote, they would never get in. By the way, the Beastie Boys??? Yeah, that says Rock N Roll. And last year...ABBA??? Rock N Roll, pass the Pepcid please.

You're likely right, going from what I know of psychological evolution.
