Rusty Box - first thoughts

I'm a bit late to the rusty box show, but got one in the mail yesterday - it happened to be band practice day, took it straight there.

First thoughts:

1) very loud... like a proper preamp in fact . Makes it hard to use as an effect pedal though, cos you have to keep the volume so low... a bit like the VT bass, but the rusty is even louder I think. Or am I missing a trick here?


2) it's the first pedal i've used where everyone else in the band has taken the trouble to say, "that sounds good!". Well all the boys at least No problems with driven tone getting lost in the mix.

Welcome to the Rustyville. They're absolutely right about it sounding good, and "No problems with driven tone getting lost in the mix".

I love mine, and I have had it very long either. I can't see it ever coming off my board.

plus one... this thing does what so many have tried to do ... it really is "that sound"

Man, I gotta review my posts before letting them go, I've got quite a few typos/grammar problems there.

To clarify, in the short time I"ve had, I've found nothing bad about it. I almost want to leave it on all the time, except I like the natural tone of my bass too,

That's one of the things that makes the Rusty hard to keep on my pedalboard--it is perfect at what it does, being an extremely loud and aggressive preamp for always-on use, but it doesn't work "as well" being used as an occasional effect.
