hes so innovative.did he really invent that technique where plays by slapping his fingers against the fretboard or did someone else do that before him? its a really cool technique and sounds awesome, ive been experimenting with it lately.

I don't see the problem with the vocals and guitar...everything fits together very nicely IMO.

I met a guy from Tampa about 5 years ago that did it with a Smith 5. He was an amazing bassist. He said that thumb slapping felt weird, so he used his fingertips. Bassmonkee (Jason) also does it.

From what I read in Bass Player a while ago, he started out playing classical guitar.
Between him and Les with the Flamenco stuff, we should all take note and maybe listen to some Segovia or something, for inspiration.

Didn't John Entwistle (sp?) play very percussively against the fretboard as well? It didn't sound quite as defined and crisp, but I've seen him play in videos and it is a bit different, but percussive nonetheless.

Man, you are lucky! Ryan is a man whose brain I'd like to pick at for a while as well.
