Rye Whiskey

All the places I went to didn’t have the Angel Envy Rye.
I did pick up a bottle of High West Rendezvous though.
Looking forward to dramz of that one!

A friend living in Kentucky sent this to me as a Christmas gift. It's absolutely delicious, I highly recommend this variety to whiskey drinkers of every stripe (scotch/bourbon/etc)! 
My go-to is usually Bulleit, with Templeton a close second, Knob Creek third, and Rittenhouse 100 proof fourth.
All have a different take on the theme.
Large old fashioned glass, filled with ice, large measure of rye, fill to brim with water.
I love my single malt Scotch, and can be tempted by a good bourbon, but rye, ice, and water is my thing.
Collect? Is that why they make it?

You can't go wrong with High West Rye. Also, if you're ever in Park City, Utah, definitely take a tour of the High West Distillery; it's a fantastic place to visit.
I sent an email to High West asking if they would consider aging one of their rye expressions in rum casks.

Just picked up some Bulleit today.
Pretty good, reasonably priced rye.
It's made by MGP, but bottled by Bulleit.
It's a 95/5, which is a popular rye mash bill that a number of other companies buy to bottle and/or finish themselves.
The High West Double Rye! uses it.
The HWDR blending adds more complexity to the flavor, but it's easy to taste the base of it in the Bulleit.
Definitely need more distilleries aging ryes in rum casks.

I'm old school though and only drink my whisky neat. Always and only that way.

Unless you only drink white whiskey....
Yeah, I know what you mean. I am talking about aging it in anything other than the traditional charred white oak.
